Back in August I obtained a SEGA game, Sonic Boom. It is not JAMMA, and I have not been able to find the proper pin out (SEGA System 16b) in order to make an adapter. I have also found out that the board uses suicide memory. After seven months sitting on my shelf and an unknown amount of time on the shelf of previous owners, I suspect it must have committed suicide by now.

Does anyone have any more information of this game that I can use?

There's a wiki somewhere on these suicide boards and an instructional on how to bring them back to life. Just do some searching.

That was not very helpful Wundercade, since searching is what I tend to do first, before asking.

I did finally get get a Sega System 16 adapter today, and was relieved to see that the game has not committed suicide. The game also looked fantastic. There is just one problem now.

I am testing my games on a machine with a horizontal screen. All vertical games I have tested so far have had the screen rotated 90° counter-clockwise. Sonic Boom on the other hand has the screen rotated 90° clockwise. That means once I get my ALCON machine converted over to JAMMA, Sonic Boom will be displaying the game upside down.

I found the dip switch settings for the game, and assumed switching the game from table mode to upright mode would fix the problem, but it did not. My attempts to find a manual online have all failed, because typing in "sega sonic boom manual" into google only brings up pages about Sonic the Hedgehog.

Anyone know of a solution, or the whereabouts of a manual online?

{{EDIT: When I entered the game in on my profile page, I entered in the serial number as the number on a sticker on the ROM board (834-6532-01). I am not entirely sure if this is correct, as there is another sticker with what appears to be a serial number on the main board. Does anyone know if the number I entered is the correct one? I am willing to post photos if required.}}

couldn't find any Sonic Boom manuals on any of the manual sites (including Sega) that I have.

Some JAMMA games have a dip switch setting for flipping the entire picture. Obviously Sonic Boom does not have this option, but your other boards might. If so, then you can install the monitor (or change the yoke wiring) so that Sonic Boom displays properly, then just make the dip switch change for your other games so they also display properly...
