I am one of the few who trys to avoid the "vampire electricity" mode. I generally have all my appliances on a power strip(s) or unplugging stuff when not in use say when I am at work. Naturally not the refridgerator :) I was talking with someone and they mentioned the heaters in the monitor (crt style) should stay on hence do not unplug it. But I am sure all arcades simply shut down the circuit breakers at closing. Surely there is not that much difference between the two. Let me know what you think and if you are into saving money on your electric bill.
Thanks!

umm... when it comes to electronics if im not using thrm they are at least off, in the case of my arcade games theyre all on wall switches, when i leave the room its a quixck total shutdown.

Been trying to figure out how to... um....modify something outside of my house so i can gain a little more savings....

I don't think this is true about the CRT heaters.

There used to be a feature with tube type TVs called 'instant on'. Now, THAT kept the tube heaters powered so that there would be a faster startup.

If you've never seen one, then you're probably younger than me.

I figured as much. Gotta save as much as we can.

Turning things off at the wall is going to save you a few cents a week if that. VERY little power would be needed to keep a device in standby mode, all it is doing is lighting up an LED and waiting to be told to turn on.

I know people who turn off their microwave when its not in use because they think the clock is costing them a considerable amount of money. What an absolute joke.

Carbon footprint green freaks scare people into thinking it uses alot of electricity.

That said leaving a power transformer for a old console year round is un-wise if you aren't using it regularly.
