Sometimes you just get lucky, found Midway DD 3 miles away

Well, since i decided to get into arcade games, my #1 game was demolition derby by midway.
There have been a few for sale on here, but the distance to get them was too much to justify the cost of travel and time after paying for the machine.
Well, a craigs search on saturday found one 3 miles from my house in the same town i live in. Needless to say i wasted no time, went over and got it immediately and brought her home.

Guy really wasn't into arcade games, he got it from a friend.
Said he had it for 2 years and it had no key, when i got it home, i pulled the masking tape off the coin return, and there they were.
Seems to be in very good condition, has some screen burn visible when the room lights are bright, but when playing in a lower light level it's not too bad. Second player shifter has to be in the sweet spot for the car to move in reverse, but i'm guessing that's just some adjustment.

I know the KLOV policy is if there is no pics it didn't happen so....

Always good to add a grail. Sweet that it was close and looks so nice. Congrats.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, i had actually thought it was sold, i called last week with no response.
Today i got the return call this morning, got in the van, drove the 3 miles and 15 minutes later i was playing it at home. Not looking forward to bringing it into the basement, lucky i have bilco doors.

awesome find, and it looks like it's in great shape! wish i could find a nice upright around here; the cocktail is even better but i don't have that kind of space.

Ditto cab looks pretty clean. Show us more pics when you get the chance and nice local grab! Haven't been that lucky to snag one close to home yet myself.

Great score, and an uncommon one. It's a good-looking machine in general, and yours is clean.

This was my first UR when I started collecting games. Everyone who saw it thought it was the coolest thing.

Hey guys just a little update.
Keys work the coin mech but not the collection or back panel panel.
Question, should i pay a lock smith to make keys for them (which i'm sure will require a service call and at least $100) or just drill them out and replace them?
Normally i'd just drill, but everything about this machine seems to be perfectly original and in great shape, i'd just hate to do anything subpar to it.

I also found three mint condition manuals inside ( went in through coin mech to upstrap control panel to fix reverse on player two). Demo derby upright manual stapled in corner, another one similar with more pages but binded, then a binded MCR systems book with all diagrams etc.
Paper shows their signs of age, but books don't ever look lik they were opened, they were in a clear plastic sleeve.

Are you sure the keys for the back door aren't hanging inside the coin door? I'd just drill out the locks and not waste money on a locksmith. New locks are far cheaper and a person would have to be super anal to say that replacing locks makes a game less original.

I have never seen an upright of this game before your pictures! When that game was new, the only places that had it around here had the 4 player cocktail style game. Man did I play a lot of that game when Just Games got theirs in. There was usually always 3 or 4 people playing it all the time.

Is there a generic lock that these things take? I looked in the coin door but didnt see them, but I will double check.
Another thing I noticed, look close, player 2 wheel is different.

Cocktail would be nice, but from my reading the unreliability, repair and weight make them tough to own. But I'd still do it, lol.
