This is a link to a quick video of the game "Block a Shot" that I picked up the other day. I still need to fix the chime when you score and some of the arms stick sometimes as you can see. But it's still fun. The kids like it anyway....we'll see how much play it gets when people come over. I like the head-to-head aspect!

This is the link to the video ----> http://vimeo.com/20684941

And this is the game in the video:

The was it works is that each player hits the balls on the bottom and that moves the arms of the shooters. Or they can hit the blocker and make him jump up to block a shot. There's a game timer on top that rotates to show how much time is left. Kinda interesting anyway.

that's pretty cool, man. a fair bit of craftsmanship there, too. i mean, think about the designing/engineering that had to go into it for it to work so smoothly...

nice find.

I have one too!! I never thought I'd see another one. Here's mine. I completely "restored" it by repainting, redoing the wood part with the balls since someone had painted it, and I bought new balls for it. It still skips scores once in a while, so I'll have to clean and maybe repair those score reel contact boards.

If those arms get stuck, it might just be that you need to bend/straighten the rods on them. I had the same thing happening on mine.
I wonder what's wrong with our chime? It's a pretty simple mechanism- just a solenoid banging into a couple pieces of metal. I bet it's not getting power or that it's just burned out. Check the wires going to the solenoid.

Also, it's made by Briarwood. http://www.pinrepair.com/baseball/blkshot.htm

Very nice job on yours. The rods are very straight. It's acting like the arms of the guy need to be lubricated but I can't seem to get in there. Is there a way to get the front glass (plastic) out easily? I see some screws in the base above the balls but there are impossible to reach without some crazy shaped screwdriver.

And the chime...I was going to investigate that but we went to see Rango instead today so I haven't had time. Could be a gummed up solenoid or a bad electrical connection.

Going from memory here...
I think you need to remove the back, then move something at the top of the glass that prevents it from moving. Then go around the front and you should be able to slide it up, and then out the front.
It's really simple inside except for those score reels.

Thank you, that worked perfect. There are 2 screws way up at the top in back that you loosen. They just pinch the glass in place to hold it. I think I can just sprinkle some graphite in there to free up the arms that keep sticking. I'll have to pick some up.

I got the chime working. The shaft was just kind of stuck and it was easy to free up. So now it gives a satisfactory ding-ding when someone scores.

The sticker says that Briarwood is a division of Brunswick Corp. I have a copy of the manual as well.

That's cool! I wish someone to do a Photoshop of the game detail and call it Cock Block a Shot and have a dude and a bunch of women sitting at a bar.
