I know that sometimes i am an ass, but I just couldnt help myself today. I get a question on this item

http://cgi.ebay.com/LUCKY-8-LINES-8...045?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4152830f25

So i get a question, "does this work" well since i have a couple nonworking boards on ebay, i double check the item, sure enough, the title says working and the first sentence does as well. Normanlly, i just ignore this kind of question. Because these kind of buyers usually are the kind that lead to trouble in the end. But what the hell, im going to look at the feedback of this guy. He has 2 ratings, and one is for not paying for an auction. Look closer, and its for not paying for one of MY auctions just last month.

So at this point, i just feel like replying to the guy. I reply with

"Can you read?, Can you pay for auctions? Dont bid on my stuff" I dont care about being an asshole to someone like this, he bid 300 on one of my machines and did not pay, so he cost me time and money. I may get my final value fees back, but not relisting fees, and not the 2 weeks extra that i have to sit on the game taking up warehouse space.

so just now he sends me another email

"im going to report you to ebay you are very rude and insulting i just asked a simple question, and yes i can read and pay for my items "

I didnt know that ebay has an area to report rude people, because i would be in contact with them daily if they did. I know he did ask a simple question, but since he cost me wasted time and my money, i again dont care if i hurt his feelings. But i did feel the need to reply that i was not sure that he could read because the auction stated working in the title and in the first sentence. And that he had 2 feedbacks and one for not paying so to me that means he only pays half the time. But to try not to be as rude, i did let him know that i was typing slower than normal so that he could understand it better.

I know that i was an ass to the guy, but again, i really dont care on this one. Many that know me know that i try to do all i can to help people and answe all kinds of questions. But when i have sold 300 games in the past 45 days. so i have been swamped with working and im taking today somewhat off, so i have time to waste on some stupid questions.

That, right there, is why I can't sell on Ebay. I have zero patience of the utter stupidity of people. You guys that do a lot of volume on Ebay.....my hat off to you. I don't see how you do it. I am so glad I don't need Ebay to exist. Ninety/ninety-five percent of my revenue comes locally....so I can be an asshole in person:)

Obviously he cant read very well or remember what he read or he would have realised he still owes you for the game he won. You were quite respectful if you ask me.

+10. 95% of my business is website direct. Jerk to normal people ratio there is about 1:300, perhaps 1:500. On eBay, however, it's 1:5, maybe 1:10 on a good month. The *only* reason I do it is that it makes a decent loss leader for my online store.

One interesting note: While the "jerk ratio" at my online store is very low, at least 50% of them have @aol.com addresses. Those are the ones that scream at you, threaten a chargeback, tell you they are going to contact the BBB, FBI, and Obama about you, and *then* explain (for the very first time) what is wrong. I've had aol guys demand a full refund of shipping and product** because an order placed Friday night at 10pm wouldn't arrive until Tuesday after they "paid for priority mail".

Philip

** not a return. They want to keep product and get a refund...

Hey, what's wrong w/AOL addresses?? I still have one :p I have never annoyed anyone on e-bay :)

laughed my ass off at that line. I usually send a one word responce to questions like that. I type in "nope" and nothing else. I dont want idiots like that winning anything anyway. Next thing you hear after they get it is "you said it worked!"

I hope after all that excitement you remembered to add him to your blocked bidder list. While your at it, just out him so we can update ours also...

The best thing to do in that situation, is to not answer the email, or if you can muster up enough strength, just answer "Yes, it works"... and then block the bidder.

I know it's fun to yell at them, but now, since they're unemployed and likely have a mental illness, they're going to hound you and bid on and buy several of your items, or harass the shit out of you until you die about 80 years from now.

It's not worth it.

Should of told the guy that you still didn't get payment for the other item he won and needs to resolve that before bidding on anything else. Then after he starts to bitch about that, tell him to fuck off.

We need to start using this Unpaid ebay item assistant. Seems VERY useful. I didn't know this existed. Should this be a sticky here on the forums?

Buyers who don't pay are blocked from leaving negative feedback. Only listings that use ebay's Checkout and Electronic payment method are eligible for Unpaid item assistant.

Video on how to use Unpaid item assistant:

http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/video/UPIA.html

I just discovered it after reading this thread and wanting to see for myself what ebay has to to protect sellers from negative feedback from nonpaying bidders.

troy- your situation was one i was in several times before i gave up on ebay. They protect complete tards like that.. and meanwhile your stuck trying to relist and out of more time which equals money.. Been there man, been there.

I honestly think you were too nice :D i woulda been ruder.

also- whenever i had a non paying bidder or an a-hole i knew was going to be trouble, i added him/her to my blocked bidder list..

burn me once shame on you.. burn me twice shame on me..

I once had a bidder not pay, although he claimed he sent the check and I'd have it by Friday. Said if I didn't have it by then, he'd send it again (there's a flag right there)...of course, Friday came and went and no check came. I sent him a message it didn't show up, so he could really send it this time. He didn't care for that one ;) I had another one (could have been the same guy, but I don't think it was) that never paid, back when sellers could leave negs, I left him one, saying "never sent payment, only sent excuses". Even though it's frustrating, you gotta try and have some fun with it :D

Uggg. The can't/won't read crowd. I'm especially annoyed right now at the ones who can't read the shipping. I've been selling some kid's stuff lately, and some of it's pretty big (For instance http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...612067&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT#ht_500wt_1154 ). I'm not going to try to put that thing into a box, and even if I did, it would cost more to ship it than it's worth!

I've had to start putting 'local pickup only' in the text because previous auctions were WON by people who didn't bother to read the shipping. And I'm still getting shipping inquiries - look, people, if I wanted to ship it, I'd have specified how much you'd have to pay IN THE AUCTION. Jeeze!
