Pretty damn cool!
2 questions
1) do they work?
2) can you tell the story on how THREE came into your posession!?
Yes....They NOW all work.
I got the 2 cockpits at auction way over a year ago. They have been in the back of my box truck since the day I bought them. I have not had the space or time to mess with them til now.
One of them was kinda working at the time I got them and the other had a piece of tape on it that said "NOT WORKING". The "NOT WORKING" one was also missing the player.
The story I got about them from the guys at Orange County Games (whos they were) said they belonged to an heir of the Wrigley fortune. They said the guy ODed and all this stuff was in a warehouse for years. They said there were planes, a helicopter, a Ferrari, motorcycles, and some other cars and a bunch of games. I know that the auction before this one I got 2 Mad Dog McCrees, a Xenophobe, and something else I can't remember right now that were said to be from the same warehouse.
Today I threw the player in the not working one and got power but no game. After a quick inspection I found a burnt pin and edge connector on the filter board....did a quick repair and it was back in business. They are 2 of the cleanest cockpits I have ever seen. The one that was working has faded art but the inside (rear) is like new. The one that was not working has great color to the art but is very dirty inside. The electronics are also a bit oxidized in spots as is the monitor. Looks like it spent some time outside....not in direct weather but like under a porch or in a shed. It has no visible water damage. The guy at OCG said that there were 3 cockpits and he kept the best one. These 2 are so nice that I have to imagine that the one he kept had to be like new.
The upright was Kalans and then he sold it to a guy here on the board and I unknowling picked it up in Ventura several months ago....it works when it wants to! Im sure its the player.
I paid $150 for the working cockpit and $75 for the not working one without the player. Plus the auction juice. I paid (I think) $400 for the upright.
