Something stinks....must be something under the house

It was a shill bid. The original bidder wasn't getting what he wanted and tried "pump up the jam" with a shill account.

Typical Ebay bs by a bs seller.

For those of you who dont know, because I didnt.

Shill bidding: Shill bidding is bidding that artificially increases an item's price or desirability. It's also bidding by the people the seller knows—including family members, roommates, or employee—who could have certain information about the item that other members aren't aware of. To make sure no one gets an unfair advantage, we don't allow shill bidding on eBay.

There is no way for Ebay to really enforce this..there a lot of sellers on ebay who have people that aren't family members throw shill bids out for them....which is why if your going to use ebay your just have to live with all the bullshit that comes along with it...there are so many ways to get screwed..it sucks..but that also goes for sellers too..buyers that aren't held accountable for legit bids and then flaking out...bogus feedback etc...its pretty much gone down hill...I use ebay for certain small purchases..but pretty much steer clear anymore for large purchases..I have enough contacts to know the legit sellers to deal with when I want a game or part and not deal with the bullshit on there for larger purchases.....

I was just thinking of how hard it is anymore to look on ebay actually find a rare or cool classic game or part in an auction worth following...I used to spend literally hours a day searching the arcade games and parts to make sure I didn't miss stuff..now I go on once a week if that...and still rarely miss nothing..just a bunch of mame or cheap as multi repro cabs...

eBay doesn't enforce JACK unless there is a corporation behind it (IP, etc.)

I gave eBay no less than 200 auctions proving a specific seller was pulling items that were not going for the minimum price they wanted (thus skirting reserve fees). eBay's response was a big fat "duh" and nothing was done.

I haven't bought/sold on eBay in about 4 years since. I hear it's gotten worse...

It has definitely gotten worse. Auction items are a waste of time. If it's not a "buy it now" with free shipping and a seller with 100% positive and the shipping includes insurance, sold in the US, has a company website where they sell independently of eBay, etc etc, I don't bother.

That trend is apparent in the number of buy-it-now auctions on the rise, and normal auctions being on the decline. They should never have allowed bid sniping services to be a part of auctions. It took away the fun, and showed people that you could game eBay.

I've started buying more things from Amazon lately.
