I bought this for like $50.00 or so from a guy that worked at Apple Computer in Austin.

I played it a bit back then. It then went to the attic and I just brought it back down again. I am assuming he built the box and CP for it. It is coming apart now.

I have not tried to play it in years. Will have to check it out.

A few pics are below.

Seen anything like this before? :)

I built something almost exactly like that. It is sitting in my garage on my Black & Decker workmate. I have a vertical WG 4600 monitor that sits on top of it. Mine at least has a real Sinistar control panel bungie corded onto the front of it :D.

Someday, I'll find an upright cabinet to put it in.....

It's going to be kind of freaking when you plug it in again after 25 years and it's says "Beware I live"

lol

hahaha-

Yeah- I had a bootleg DKJr like that- mounted underneath a board/control panel with a monitor on top.

I also used to have a PCB/harness/CP/switcher that I would 'mount' onto my Jungle King and click off a few games. I wish I still had it- I would screw it to the wall.

that's cool. you know, it almost makes sense to build a jamma version like that. it'd save the whole cost of having to get a jamma cab/monitor, etc.

Some people do actually. They call them Superguns. It's a JAMMA cab in a box. Really cool. But you'll need to shell out $200-300 to make one or buy one.

Hey, that's actually a pretty good idea! I would love to have something like that for a Jamma setup.

i had one that was jamma with a 9" monitor, sound, and controls. it was mounted on a stand too. i got it in a bulk buy from an op many years ago. im sure it was for him to quickly check pcbs but i used it to play jamma games. my wife put it outside without telling me and the dogs pushed it over and chewed it till there was nothing salvageable.

I'll wager this is very probably the first implementation of the Supergun concept ever made. If it were mine, I'd keep it as-is.

To the original poster: What's the display device? An RGB monitor or a TV? And if it's a TV, where's the RGB to NTSC conversion? (And is the joystick an 8-direction stick or a Sinistar-style optostick?)

I had not considered the potential 'historic' quality of the piece.

I use an RGB monitor. I think it is a Magnavox circa 1989 or so. Will get a pic of it.
I am the original owner of the monitor. Used to play my Sega Genesis on it BITD.

The joystick is just an 8-way micro-switch type.

Yes, it has a full coin door, a Williams power brick, a Williams speaker assembly, a Sinistar control panel (bungied to the box), a verticle mount WG 4600 and a full wiring harness. All it is missing is the cabinet.
