I finally built one for my arcade without knowing that there is no free play setting on the game. THIS SUCKS! Anyone working on a free play mod?

Drill a whole right underneath the control panel, put in an black arcade button or whatever color you cabinet is, solder in two wires that run into the coin mech micro-swtich. Done.

Free play mod

Ok on a serious note according to here, you can have free play with the following settings:

You can always go for the real arcade feel and use quarters or run tokens. I tokens on all my machines. It's easy to convert coin mechs to take any coin ran through them. I buy from .800 to .984 tokens.

TMNT free play via dipswitches sucks. It sits on PRESS START screen and only gives 2 lives per player, but they can re-join when game over.

The coin-up board will not yield proper results for 4-player TMNT as it's only designed for two player machines and pulses the same coin line twice for 2 players.

The under-the-panel credit buttons is really your best bet. That way kids can give themselves 214 lives :)

Use tokens you goddamn savages.

Wow not a savage but sure am cheap. I have been trying to find some good deals on coin mechs. Not all of my machines have coin mechs let alone token mechs or converted to eat tokens. At 20-30$ a piece it sucks.

I did a mod for a TMNT where I took a normal HAPP button and inserted it into the quarter coin return with the nut on the other side of the coin door. No drilling necessarry. I then ran 8 wires from the button and the single button coin'd every player.

Cannot remember if you could hold it down or had to pulse it but unlike Simpsons at least this one does not make a player continue playing until dead. That is the worst on Simpsons when someone sees you playing jumps in for 5 minutes and then walks away. Now your stuck with an AFK that prevents you from scrolling the screen to the right.

BTW for you non-vers'd in computer games AFK = Away From Keyboard and refers to any unattended joystick during game action.
