Ive been here a while now, and still don't understand these posts. Whats the point of them? When someone posts a link and says "Check it out! Someone should buy this!", does said poster really want the person to buy it? If so, why? What joy does one get out of taking the time to post a link to tell someone else they should buy something? If someone should buy it, why not the person posting? Its baffling.

What if the person sees an item that is a good deal but distance (i.e. $$$) prevents them on capitalizing on said deal? Should they not inform the others on a good deal?

I post thoughs link every now and then because of distance,no money or if I don't like the item but am sure another Klover will. I love good deals when I can take them but if I can't why not pass off the good information to a fellow klov member.

That's the only time I've posted items like that.

Ebay alerts me an item I've been watching is listed, but it's too far away, so I let everyone else know about the deal.

EDIT: or is something is horribly mis-classified so a normal search wouldn't turn up the item.

mabye some of us actually care about other collectors and when we see a good deal and cant afford it, post it so at least somebody in our "circle" ends up with the game or games...

just a thought...ya jackhole! :D

I just wonder why there is never any follow up?

Do I interpret this to mean ebay will alert you when something you're looking for is posted for sale? If so, how do you set that up?

I work at a computer most of the day so I check craigslist often just out of curiosity. I check the free section and then arcades and pinballs. I guess im waiting for the nice free score. When I see what looks like a good deal or maybe a machine someone would want I post it for those who might not of seen it. I always thought I was being nice.

Yeah, you can set up saved searches and it will e-mail you when something meets your criteria.

On the My Ebay dropdown in the top right of their homepage, select Saved Searches.

Or... search like you normally would and then when you're at the results, it should list the number of results and next to it a link to "Save this search"

Why does it bug you Jow? What's more baffling... the fact that some folks, for the benefit of the community, post these deals so other folks can take advantage of them or the fact that you're "baffled" by them enough to post about it?!

:scratchchin:

Exactly. Even though I have never posted one of those, I have bought a couple from tip off posts like that.

I've posted a couple of leads on stuff over the years and the motive is as was already stated: a good deal that I can't take advantage of, so I pass it on down the line. Why not?

Plus if you know where it went, you always have a chance at it at some later point! ;)

Many years ago Parrothead posted a working Spy Hunter sitdown for $250 not too far from me. It was a MUST HAVE game for me, so I went for it and got it! I was very grateful. I thanked him here and in person when I finally met him.

If he hadn't have pointed it out, I would have missed out.

I post in that same spirit. Don't know if anyone has ever gotten a game because of one of my posts, though.

Good karma... comes in handy sometimes when the favor is returned.
