Hard to search for this so im posting

Got my defender today, never seen this, not willis? Says Copyright MBCC on it, 1981, which is odd cause all the defender Copyrights say 1980..

Its also aluminum on wood, not all wood, in great shape!

I don't know who made it. I have an all metal Defender CP and it had pieces on it that looked like parts of that one.

The Taito version has a different button layout/sizes and Japanese text. Both start buttons vertically in the middle, and instructions on the left hand side

I've seen this panel before, but can't remember if it was a repro or a bootleg.
Initially, I thought it was Defense Command, the most common bootleg. The KLOV art is different for that one though.

There are a couple other Defender bootlegs including Zero, Defense, Tornado and Star Trek which might help you narrow down the search.

I'm pretty sure that's a Wico overlay.. I've got a 1980 catalog from Wico that lists a bunch of cpos, marquees, and sideart that they offer. They were a Willis reseller but they also sold artwork from other sources..

Or it could be an overlay from the game Avenger, which was a bootleg of defender.. Sold in Canada.. Also might be a Defense overlay.. Another boot of defender..

well like i said the copyright said MBCC which i have no idea what that stands for, I doubt thats wico or willis since there usually there own name on there?

From one that was selling on eBay...

"Here is something you don't see everyday. A metal Defender replacement cpo. This was made by a company called M.B.C.C. and copyrighted 1982, so all you aftermarket graphics collectors take note. It's used but in good condition with just a few little scuffs and scrapes.

In case your not old enough to remember, most locations allowed smoking in the early 80's. Due to this and Defender being such a popular game, their plastic control panels were notorious for being burned by cigarettes. So this company made a solution. I believe it is made out of aluminum. This would be too risky to ship flat, so I will put it in a box.

I actually bought this new for my Defender from J&J Distributors in Indianapolis in the mid 80's. I didn't really need it but thought it was cool and installed it on my game. (I didn't need it because I bought my Defender from an Aladdin's Castle, so it wasn't burned.) When I sold the game to a friend in the 90's I took this one off. So I'm the only one who ever used it and I don't smoke."
