Somehow my collection has is now mostly Vectors and I didn't even realize it till now

Hey Guys,

Been in this hobby almost a year now and I started out just getting cheap games and games I wanted, almost all of them being 80's raster games, but somehow in the last couple of weeks my collection has become a majority Vector collection, and I'm not honestly sure how that happened! Here is my current Vector list:

Sega Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator
Atari Asteroids Deluxe
Atari Battlezone
Atari Black Widow
Atari Space Duel
Atari Tempest

And I'm looking at getting the following possibly as well:

Atari Star Wars (Finally played one and just feel in love with it)
Atari Red Baron (Yeah . . . that might never happen)
Atari Major Havoc (I suck at it but its awesome)
Cinematronics Cosmic Chasm
Cinematronics War of the Worlds
Cinematronics Starhawk

It's like I got my first vector, Asteroids Deluxe, and I'm not interested in raster anymore, well most raster anyway. Has this happened to anyone else?

Nope. I've owned 5 vector games since I started collecting, and I only have one left, my Asteroids Deluxe.

I've had:

Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Space Wars
Star Wars
Tempest

-For the most part, I loved the look, but I hated owning them, hated working on them, hated worrying about them. Having said that, Asteroids Deluxe is one of my favorite machines. The V2000 has been bullet-proofed and works so well now I forget that it is a vector.

Right now I have:

Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Battlezone
Cinematronics Tail Gunner (upright)
Star Trek SOS
Quantum (original cab currently a project)
Space Duel (x2)
Tempest Cabaret

So I guess that's nine. I pretty much agree that these games can be a huge pain the ass to keep working. I have sold lots of my raster games but I have kept every one of the vector games. At least for now...

I played a Red Baron Cockpit last weekend. Cool game.

Yeah I know they can be a pain to maintain, but they are just so visually stunning that its difficult to beat!

I need to play more Battlezone, its a good game that just doesn't get much love at the moment because the left grommet has gone bad and I need to get a new one.

I still like a mix of games, but the vectors are always a beautiful site to see in a collection.

It is! But it is restored and looks good at the end of the row for all to see. Don't have any others that would look good in that spot yet.

Ok yeah that kind of makes sense. I don't have a bunch of room in my game room, so I'm thinking of changing the line up around to something like Centipede (Wife's game), Black Widow, Berzerk, Star Trek but I'm also thinking about putting the Battlezone in the house as well, not sure which I should put in the game room at the moment.

Let's see what do I have.....

Tempest
Gravatar
Black Widow
major havoc
star castle
battlezone
red Barron
asteroids
asteroids deluxe
Omega race
warrior
space war
space duel
space fury
Tac scan
Star Wars
Star Trek
eliminator

I think that about covers it. I guess you can tell what I prefer. ;)

I really want to hate you at the moment, but I'm in too much awe over your Vector Collection.

Thought I'd throw my list in, since I too have realized that a large chunk of my games are now vectors:

Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Battlezone
Black Widow
Gravitar
Major Havoc [project]
Quantum [project]
Red Baron
Solar Quest
Star Trek SOS Cockpit [project]
Tempest

The three 'project' games are ones that I need a few more parts for, then they'll be complete; just need to get them running after that!

I wouldn't mind adding:
Space Fury
Star Wars Upright or Cockpit
Tac scan

Am i the only one here that doesn't have a Red Baron?!?!?!? I haven't tried Gravitar, Solar Quest, or Quantum but I do know I want a Major Havoc!

Ok I have got to ask . . . how is Red Baron, that game looks like it would be a blast to play!

It's remarkable how advanced it was for a B/W vector game. Basically you are flying a biplane in WWI and battling against other biplanes (I think up to 3 at once), blimps, and ground attack. One drawback of Red Baron is that the game really slows down when there are multiple enemies attacking you. I think that's why they limited the number of enemies in Battlezone to basically one at a time. That is probably battlezone's biggest drawback- too simple.

I do love the vectors for sure but I don't have the know how yet to justify owning more than one and I don't know if I will ever get the one I have working ;) The multi-vector boards sure are appealing to those of us with limited space though.

I think my goal for 2013 is to find and acquire a Red Baron. I love the way the cabinet looks, and BW Vectors have a certain appeal to me. I also want to find an original Asteroids as well. Then I'll have the complete Asteroids collection:

Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Space Duel
Blasteroids

I've been told I need to get the multi-vector board, but I'd rather find the space and have the dedicated machines with all the artwork in them. There is something just about the original artwork that makes the games better, at least to me anyway.

Oh I agree and if I had the space I would feel the same way. However, only having about 30 sqft for games in our current situation without using the garage (not really an option) the mulitvector is very appealing.

I keep telling my wife that if we got a bunk bed in our bed room instead of the king size bed we could fit 2 maybe 3 arcade units in the bedroom!

She didn't seem impressed with that suggestion . . .

I tend to graviate (pun intended) to vectors also;

Tempest with multi game
Gravitar
Lunar Lander
Black Widow
Battlezone
Red Baron
Asteroids
Asteroids deluxe
Omega race
Space war
Space Duel
Star Wars w/ ESB
Star Trek W/ multi game awith all sound boards
Speed Freak
War of the Worlds (color)
Quantum
Lemans
Centipede
Space Invaders Deluxe with multigame
ZVG project in progress
Zaxxon

Games that have come and gone
Star Castle x4
Armor Attack x3
Ripoff x3
Solar Quest (best game made)
Space Wars x3

I'm sure there were more...

I love vectors! They just look so damn cool. Unfortunately, most of mine are buried until I can get my game room setup at our next house. Here is what I have so far:

Star Castle
Star Castle - Rockola version
Armor Attack
Starhawk
Battlezone - periscope
Battlezone - open face
Red Barron
Asteroids with multi kit
Asteroids deluxe
Omega Race (upright, cabaret and cockpit) I need to get rid of two of these
Space Wars
Tailgunner
Speed Freak
Multivector (not yet finished)
