here we go again. some people are really hard to believe on this page. its about saving games not destroying them cause you need a part out of them....got a guy trashing a good tempest because he needs the monitor out of it for a game to fix a star wars to sell his friend......we have some real lame ducks on this page and it boils down to making a buck..........end of story

uh....I think your talking about this dude, right?

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=103811

Definetly doesn't make much sense to me to try and part out that machine, but the dude seems to have a plan. Perhaps he's not such a lame duck either. Maybe he has like 50 nice classics in the garage, and he just dosen't care for the tempest?
Whatever he's got planned, insulting a fellow KLOV member ain't too cool. Or maybe it is, and I'm just new here? eh, who cares. I need a beer.

not insulting no one just shaking my head in disbelieve..............you are the one who put the name to it .......not I...

uh, my bad I guess. I suppose somebody would have posted it if I didn't. Otherwise everyone who read your thread would go, "Whaddafucisdisguytalkinbout?" :)

Parting out a game is a double-edged sword. Youd rather not see a fixable game be dismantled, but then again, you are giving life to multiple other machines, thus increasing the population of working machines. I am not supporting the Tempest partout, but I can understand where he is coming from.

Keith - you can't save the world. Seeing classic games MAME'd is also a travesty but it's inevitable. On the rbight side of things - if all that Tempest needs is a monitor someone will surely pick it up and revive it. The Tempest will live again. A MAME'd system is more likely to meet an early death.

I don't know... I'm willing to bet most of those parts (if he does part it out) are just going into a collection somewhere and not really being put to any use any time soon... while other people are looking for the same parts that are in some collections. Meanwhile the people give up on finding those parts, sell the machine to some who, or they do it themselves, parts it out to sell more parts off that just end up in collections collecting dust beside the parts their machines needed in the first place.

i have parted out, and burned several classics.. problem with these is, once they have been converted to some lame jamma game, artwork painted over, control panel hacked, and plenty of water damage and beat up, they just aren't worth restoring. I have stolen monitors from one game for another, but i still have the ones i stole from, or sold them whole minus monitor.

Yeah, I have an Omega Race cabinet here that brings a tear to my eye... it's in really bad shape(swelled, broken, leaning) but I'm still trying to talk myself into coming up with some sort of game plan for it. You hate destroying cabinets but sometimes it's the only human way to deal with them. ;)

Why is he a crook and a thief?

He had issues with another member here for a while. The other member didn't get paid. My understanding is that he's been paid and Natey is off the guys "shit list". My recollection is that GAMEFIXER was the seller, but I could be wrong.

I'm sitting here shaking my head in disbelief at your nerve to not only piss and moan about it in his own thread, but then to start another thread entirely once people tried to get the old one on track so you could continue complaining about it. Different people have different idea's about the hobby, and as a collector rather than bitching about it you should just accept that it's what they want to do with THIER GAME. There is more than one tempest in the world, get over it. Hopefully the parts go to someone who needs them.

To be fair, he started this thread before the attempt to get back on track in the original thread in the FST forum.

I say it is his game. Let him do with it what he wants. If I had to part out a game to get cash to buy another that I wanted, I would. I will part out games to support my collection.

just let it die......the guy is just going to part it too make a buck.its sad to see that happen.the right thing to do is to sell it minus the monitor...but you know thats not going to happen. its about he mighty dollar.
