Man its been my month for getting some machines. A guy in my local arcade collecting group(SMAC) posted about an old operator that was giving away machines because he didn't want to pay the storage costs anymore. he posted a pic of a unit totally packed with nineties goodness. A whole bunch of fighters, driving, shooters, and novelty stuff. Anyways it was about 25 inutes from my place so I jumped in the truck and raced out there. I get there and there's a small crowd of friends and group members. I start looking through the units and spy a Street Fighter vs Xmen in a Capcom Big Blue, a Terminator 2, and NBA JAM. I knew I could only fit 3 cabs in my truck so those were the ones I set my sights on. Some time while we were all looking at the cabs the owner decides he doesn't want to give them away but charge something for the cabs. After that half of the people there left. Anyways long story short he was still basically giving the machines away. I got the T2 which is completely working and in great shape for $25. I couldn't believe it. I got the SF in the Big Blue also in great shape and working mostly (board was suicided) for $50. At that point I was freaking out! Lastly there was the NBA JAM. The cab was missing the monitor and Control panel when I first came upon it. I later found the Control panel. For some reason the Cp was just unplugged from the cab. Otherwise it was complete. The owner gave me a 25" monitor to replace the missing one. I got the NBA JAM for the whopping price for FREE. I am still stoked from the whole experience. I got 3 awesome games for $75 its absolutely insane. Just one of those things being in the right place at the right time. Anyways I just thought id share the story with you guys as it is the one of the coolest days I have had collecting arcades. Here's some pics because I know that if there's ""no pics it didn't happen!""

more pics

Here is the NBA JAM after I cleaned it up and put it back together. I have wanted a dedicated NBA JAM for years. This one looks pretty good too! Enjoy the pics. I now have (2) to many games I will be selling/trading my SF2 Champion Edition in the big blue and the T2.

Yeah the sideart is extremely nice and colorful. I still need to remove the Tournament stickers on each side as they are a little ratty looking. Ill find replacements and make it look all better!

Dude there are still sooo many cabs that he wants to get rid of. The ones I can remember that stood out were Simpsons bowling, 4 player Simpsons, so many different variations of Street Fighter, a million Mortal Kombat cabs, Shooting games, and a lot of driving games too. Just too many cabs there. The sad thing is he will probably end up taking them to the dump or abandoning them.

This is fucking awesome!!!
Next time, trailer. But all in all this is frickin awesome, i wish there was an op doing housecleaning around here...

Thanks guys. I am totally in love with the NBA JAM. Man its so sexy! Tomorrow ill get it working. I just cant get over how good of shape its in. Even the front looks awesome besides where the lock bar holes are. Ill just paint some carriage bolts black to fill the holes. It will look ok. Anyone know where I can get the Tournament stickers that are on each side? Theres the rectangular one's and the circular one's on each side of the cab. I would love to get exact replacements. Please let me know if you know where I could purchase them. Or if you know anyone on KLOV that could print these for me. That would be awesome! One last thing. I will be selling the SF vs Xmen Marquee and bezel out of the big blue cab if anyone is interested. PM me.

Thanks guys

~Chris

Damn, I know what its like to move that Damn T2 Cabinet.
I had to move 5 of them.

Hope it stays there for a while.

Is this the same place you got that si board?

Awesome btw. Yeah get rid of the T2 they get boring quickly. I should know I have one in my basement.

Thanks guys. Yeah I am definitely running out of room. I like my area organized. I hate stacking my games on top of each other like that because you can't see the sideart. And no Tighe the boards I picked up were from a different local guy. The storage game guy didn't have many boards around that I noticed. all his games looked to be route games at one point. I hope this nba jam fires right up.

Got the NBA JAM all put back together. Installed the monitor. Hooked up all the connections tonight!! I picked this cabinet up it was in pieces with no monitor. I took a monitor from an MK cab that was nearby. I didn't know if that worked either as there was no power in the storage units. Anyway I powered it up and this is what I got!

nice work. you need to shrink the width and move it over a bit as its cutting off the right side of the pic.

Monitor dialed in

I know what was causing the monitor in my NBA JAM to be discolored in the top left corner. I had it placed up against a wall that has a power wire in it. I moved the cab away from that spot and now it looks perfect!

PS thanks Bill. I hadn't adjusted the monitor at that point. But I spent a little time on it today!

The monitor is a WG K7400

That is an awesome find. I purchased an NBA Jam board but more and more i am regretting it as I want a full cabinet at some point.

Oh well, perhaps I will end up so lucky. Very nice sideart btw.

Nba jam

Thanks Toloqi,

I bought an NBA JAM TE board to use in another generic cab and I hated it too man. I have been looking for years for a dedicated NBA JAM or NBA JAM TE with no luck. I like the dedicated NBA JAM side art over the Dedicated NBA JAM TE side art. Just my preference! All I could find were ugly conversions. I would have paid $600+ dollars for one of these machines. I just got extremely lucky to find one. It was in pieces but I put it back together. I was so surprised that the machine started and everything worked when I powered it up. And the fact that I took a monitor from a random Midway cab not being able to test if it worked let alone looked good. It was just a miracle that everything works and looks as good as it does. Just keep looking bud. You will eventually find one. Its just a matter of time! I still have to remove a few stickers on the sideart and the Control panel box but other than that its finished :)
