Some footage I took @ The Kong Off (with a great ending) :)

That was some great footage. I sent a link to Eric so he could see his kill screen. I hated you at the end of the footage......$125, YOU SUCK.

Thanks for posting the vid, . Your girl was excited about you bringing home another arcade game, that's bizarro world in my life.

Nice footage Joe, some of the best I've seen so far! Thanks for sharing!

It appears to me that Mitchell didn't have his heart into this and wasn't taking it seriously, does that seem like a fair assessment? Why would he try to leap the fireball on the rivet stage and take a big risk like that if he was attempting a high score and not just screwing around?

Great pickup on the Donkey Kong also, I could have swore that you already had one but at that price I'd have 2 also! :) My DK was my first arcade machine and it will never leave my house.. unless I find an absolute mint restored one to take it's place. I also have the 25" namco multi-kong since I love the DK series so much. There's just something about DK that makes it my all time favorite game.

Oh, and the footage of you unloading brought back some memories, that place looks familiar to me! ;)

I did land a signed "Kong off" marquee after some searching around and an add here, so I'll have my little piece of history that will go up in my arcade..

Wish I could have made the event though..

Nah Billy was into it just like the rest of em. You have to keep in mind they were all exhausted and playing in an extremely packed social atmosphere...I think that was throwing the competitors off a bit. I figured you would appreciate the ending :) I do indeed already have one DK but I think I am going to put a DK2 kit in this one. Thanks for embedding the video CrazyKongFan!

Wow, so he did lie to me.

I had bought that exact machine for $100 (what I offered him) at 11am that same Saturday...I drove from Herndon, VA (lol with my girlfriend as well) to his neighborhood in Germantown early that afternoon (Ranworth Ct. Germantown, MD 20874) and got a text message from him saying his wife and kids convinced him to keep it and fix it up and it was no longer for sale. He seemed sincere via the email and texts we exchanged and even offered to pay me the gas money I wasted to drive up there. I didn't allow myself to believe he was so low as to lie to me and sell it to someone that offered only $25 more (which I obviously would've given him if that was the difference).

BTW, not mad at you because I know you had no idea he had already sold it to someone else (and life goes on of course), but boy he lied through his teeth a few times to me, even blaming it on his wife and kids. ...Just feel low right now. I wished I hadn't found out he did actually lie to me. Ugg.

(I guess the redeeming thought here is I know it went to a good owner that will do right with it.)

Hey sorry bout my previous message all...I hope I didn't come off as terribly upset. I think it was a slightly impulsive response cause I was watching that video saying "Hey that's my Donkey Kong!" :) But I'm not terribly upset, I've forgiven the seller, and I know in the grand scheme of things, life is way too short to get upset at something like this. Just was frustrated is all. It's the let down feeling when you think something is "in the bag", and then all the sudden it's taken away from you. But life surely goes on.

God bless and cheers all...Good luck on getting the DK up to speed Joe!

Damn man, I honestly had no idea. I've been in that situation (well not already on the road) and its the worst! I'm really sorry about that. Honestly, I think the seller was amazed I actually contacted him. Evidently he had been trying to google me because he had read an article that was in the regional Gazette on my arcade...I think he figured it was going to a really good home to someone who would fix it up. He said himself in the email that it must be "destiny" that I actually got hooked up with him and was able to make the deal. Plus, it made for a pretty cool ending to my weekend :)

sorry again man. I wish you the best in your next arcade adventure! I'll stay off craigslist for awhile :)

Screw dat!

I'd let him know that I know he lied. I'm not saying to raise a big stink over it, but a quick note saying that he didn't have to lie to you in order to sell the game for $25 more would be his spanking and perhaps he'll think twice about reneging on a deal down the line.

What ever happened to a man's word being his bond?

But that's just me. :D

So you have random Craigslist sellers telling you that it was destiny that they could sell you a game ridiculously cheap and they held it for you to get there... You sir, are the man!!

No go find me a EDOT for a good price so I can come up and visit you again! :)
