Red Baron had a dedicated cockpit, if we're counting those.better question is what games were supposed to have a dedicated cabinet, but were released only as a kit.
red baron (reported 3 dedicated. I saw one)
off the wall (had a chance to buy a proto ur, I think it was kit only)
shuuz (a few dedicated, mainly kit)
mystic marathon (3 dedicated I had 1, heard 1000 kits)
strikeforce (someone posted pics of a cabinet and it looked dedicated, heard1000 kit)
trog (my guess is they made about 50 dedicated)
I would add maybe black widow, but I dont think they ever planned a dedicated.
jr pac. they made a bunch, but mostly a kit.
I forgot about the red baron cockpit, but my mind was on the UR.Red Baron had a dedicated cockpit, if we're counting those.
@Kalan714 had a factory dedicated Black Widow which also had an Amplifone w/ factory deflection mounts. Also all serials matched. This ended up at Banning, so whoever purchased this from the Banning auction could verify (and scored). He also had a Off the Wall dedicated cabinet, only one I've seen.
Grinkers had a tabletop Shuuz, not sure if this was intended to be a full size cab. I also remember seeing a dedicated Trog cabinet at Grand Prix in Pomona BITD.
Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure Weeks bought the Off the Wall also, so it's the same cab.I forgot about the red baron cockpit, but my mind was on the UR.
atari tested amp tubes in a bunch of the games. I think I have space duel and tempest with amp mounts. black widow I would almost say is dedicated as they sold kits for it and sold games converted on the the floor at atari. but floor conversions had gravitar art underneath and I say thats a conversion.
the off the wall at banning might have been the one I saw. An atari employee had it in his home and I went to see it, but did not buy it. but that was back like in the 90's. I have the kit, but I dont think I have seen another other than the kits.
I think there shuuz tabletop was at cax in the past.. but there were a few made in the atari family drawer cabinet.
Williams was in the crosshairs for a lot of conversions. My personal rule is, if it doesn't have a dedicated cabinet, it goes in a dynamo or a candy cab. I refuse to own a Street Fighter in a Joust cab for example. I can't stand those types of conversions. My Brian would force me to make it Joust again.
I love the idea of taking games that didn't have an original cabinet and making them come to life. My buddy Sam is an amazing artist and I would do all the hardware and electronics. Ghostbusters was all him though.
I did the electronics for the Ghostbusters topper![]()
Bit more info on the Off the Wall cab after talking with Kalan tonight.I forgot about the red baron cockpit, but my mind was on the UR.
