So there's a lady here with a Killer Instinct II and a lethal Enforcers II for sale, both for $250. The KI2 has a bad monitor and bad board, and the LE2 has a bad monitor and needs a new gun, both according to her. The cabs aren't in bad shape. She claims both were struck by lightning.

So, any opinions on whether I should fork over the cash and take the chance?

If these are grails and the cabs are in perfect condition - maybe $250 for the KI2, but not for the LE. I bought a dead LE for $100, so I'd start there. As for the KI2, the board can be expensive to buy. Monitors can be repaired. Check on the pricing of each to make sure the "after repair and purchase" price is what you want to spend on them.

And this is assuming that the KI2 actually has a bad board and monitor. It's possible the lightning strike just took out the power supply or perhaps even some fuses if they blew fast enough.

But this is why a nicely rated surge protector should be on all your games...

$250 for LE is ok for a mint game. Not something you need to fix up. They are a pretty common game, at least around here they are. I would pass. Also, WTF does she mean they were struck by lightning???! Were they outside in a storm or tied to the end of a kite??!

Were they outside in a storm or tied to the end of a kite??!

Unless the house was actually hit by lighting (fixed a game once that had been in one) - She most likely meant, "There was a thunderstorm, the power went out, and after that the games wouldn't work."

Then get the machines. If you can harness the 1.21 gigawatts inside them each, you might be able to send Marty back to the future! Great Scott!!!!

On a serious note, unless these are grails to you and you don't mind spending more to fix them, I would wait for another one to roll by. Or offer her $300 for both.

lol Oh, I meant $250 for BOTH, not a piece, or $150 individually if I didn't take 'em both. KI2 isn't really a grail per se, just something that'd be nice to have. Same for LE2. I figured fix 'em and flip 'em for trade value to either my buds here at KLOV, or someone on CL in the future who has something I want, like a new pin.

Actually after rereading her ad and her email, those two machines weren't hit by lightning. The NFL Blitz 2K was. Which she has for sale BTW for an addtitional $50. That one she claims won't do diddly, and I'm assuming the other two actually show signs of life.

So, I could take either the LE2 or KI2 for $150, both for $250 or all three, Blitz included, for $300. Right now its just a matter of space.

How's that deal, now that I've clarified it a bit?

Buy them both for 250 is a good deal and well worth the risk if you have the time. Just make sure you have the time needed to put into them. Like many of us here, it's easy to get burried in more project machines than actual working ones. It's deals like these that cause that to happen. Best of luck.. I say go for it.
