Boys and girls,

It is with great sorrow that I report to you that I am now experiencing issues with Site 4…again, shocking with this boardset I know. 🙄

Anyway, no sound, test switch dead. Game boots, attract mode, can coin up, can play, whole 9 yards EXCEPT sound and test switch…

This board set sits in my dedicated '95 Area 51 cabinet interchangeably with its older brother boardset from that year. Test switch and sound flawless on older brother…

For reference, this snippet is from the Site 4 dedicated cabinet schematic. That TEST SW wire runs to JAMMA pin 15 at the edge connector. It's JAMMA so it's standard! 😱

Schematic for a DEDICATED ORIGINAL cabinet like mine shows, WAIT FOR IT…SAME PIN! JAMMA!

I don't have speaker issues obviously because sound is flawless in the original game but just for reference

Now we know that Site 4 is a hungry ass game in the power department, some reporting needing to crank that bitch up to 11 (5.50 VDC) for optimal operation, I'm with that. I've adjusted all the way from 4.95 to 5.60 with no change…

Story time: I had both a bad HDD and a BAD SSD. I have two Site 4 boardsets now. One for a long time, 1 just yesterday. Both same issue. (Cabinet problem…? Maybe…) The second boardset came with an HDD that my cabinet seems to vibe with. The boot issues I was having at BIOS check are gone now, as I stated the game boots, plays, takes coins, etc. This HDD boots on both my boardsets, sending me to attract just fine. ✅ LEDs D14-D17 lighting up like Christmas on the JAMMIT board just fine. Love to see progress there.

I will lose my mind if there is a single wire, connector, something I'm missing that's negating sound and test switch flip…I'd even imagine if I could get test working, I could adjust volume and actually hear sound since settings and the like aren't the board, they're the HDD itself! I'm betting on that at least, volume adjustment and seeing that volume is just non-existent in this HDD's current settings for whatever reason. One can hope…

What do?

Okay so '95 Area 51 test switch non functioning so the test switch is not functioning in the cabinet regardless of board so that helps narrow it down.

Fixed it, lol. There was a disconnected switch wire from JAMMA harness. Crimped that puppy back into place. Turns out my hypothesis was also correct. This new HDD I got in with the new board had volume in game and attract set to mute, so glad to be right about that. 🤦🏼‍♂️ You win some you lose some. Glad I was able to talk to myself in this thread. 🤣 CHECK YOUR WIRES PEOPLE.

I have never needed to do this with Site 4 ever.
