SOLVED! Millipede: Some text shifting by one to the left.

Stupid scope question - hook one probe to GND and the other to pin in question to get wave picture?

You can do it that way. I would also set your Volts/Div to 2V or 1V to make it easier to see how high/low it gets.

If you find one that looks odd, you can post a picture.

You know anyone with a Fluke? :)

Based on your pic, I would suspect one of the RAMs (2J, 2K, 2L, 2M, 4K, 4L, 4M and 4N) of being bad. Are they socketed by chance?

When you play the game, are there any weird characters on the screen in those locations?

Only one is socketed. No, there are no anomalies on any of the graphics during gameplay, save for at the bottom of the screen where it says NDXT BONUS T 20,000 or whatnot. With the E and A moved one to the left.

Thank you for turning my attention back to the RAM.

I had to replace two RAM to get it running - one was 2M. The new chip was good enough to get the game running but had something wrong with it, leading to this shifting problem. A different RAM chip fixed the issue.

YOU GET A GOLD STAR FOR THAT SHIT!

Anyone with half a brain would see that PIC0 is generated by the row 2 RAMs so the row 4 RAMs have nothing to do with it.
Bottom half of the screen means 2K or 2M.

If you ran self-test enough times, the shitty built-in RAM test would have eventually failed.
