SOLVED: Joust. Credits up but won't start a game.

P1 and P2 buttons are lit but neither start a game.

No previous issues since I bought the game in 2018.

Tried searching here on KLOV, no specific info found yet.

As I recall, the game has a switcher installed. Will confirm today.

Please give me a hint before I go in like Captain Caveman. Thanks!

Check continuity, and if you haven't jump the switch. That will tell you if it is a PCB or harness/switch issue.

Thanks, yeah I'm sitting here wondering if bad ground, but crazy that it just crept up. I haven't moved the game or anything.

Is it playing blind? What's the voltage looking like at the pcb?

Buttons are always lit on Joust. Nothing to do with game state.

My bet is the interface board. sometimes one of those chips goes bad and you lose an input

Follow the harness down back to the boards

It either came off free play or you have some green connectors on the board that needs repinned

Thanks guys very very much. It was the ribbon cable from the interface board to the main pcb. I wiggled it a little and game will now start.

I will be 55 in a few mos, told my daughter this AM that we need to start passing the torch..

if you intend on keeping it, both ribbon cables need to be replaced.
