SOLVED: Gaplus/Galaga 3 high score save (Midway board)

Glad my patcher did the job, seems like I should update the patch info though as it doesn't have that Midway ram location noted.
Just for reference, I did all 9 versions of Gaplus/Galaga3 in my patcher. Sometimes it gets me down having to do all the versions but I know what a pain it can be to find the board you have is not supported!

Going to Necro this thread... Just tried JROK's HSS on my Gaplus board. Got some weird sprites... Need to play with it more tonight. Didn't realize @GadgetFreak included this game in his patcher, need to try that as well.

I think (going on memory here) that I have the Namco version. I don't have the PCB in front of me at the moment, but I can look when I get home. I'm assuming it's the Namco version. (I posted a breakdown of Gaplus versions here if you're curious): https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/gaplus-cheat-does-it-work.164510/post-4373837

Edit: I have the Namco (Revision D alternate hardware) version. In MAME it's listed as: gaplusd.zip

Oh weird. I never had luck with the JROK, but I'm running the Midway board so that might be why. @GadgetFreak's patcher worked well for me. Give it a shot.

Coincidentally, I'm planning to live stream some Galaga '88 tonight (which I'm running in my Gaplus cab.) Maybe I'll post the link in a new thread - haven't been on here and posted something in forever.

I dont suppose that this also adds freeplay w/attract does it? :)
No, it doesn't. I'm in the process of burning the HSS save kit for myself and the FREEPLAY option was greyed out during the patching process (for all versions of Gaplus) which means it isn't supported.

Thanks for doing this! Because of your patch, I figured out that I have Gaplus Revision D (alternate hardware). Your filenames matched up with my original EPROM chips. Need to re-burn everything and give it a try again.

Where you ever able to get HSS working on the Namco version of this board set with the ship eater egg intact?

I wasn't able to get it working, at all. I kept getting glitched graphics for the sprites. But now's a good time to try again since time has passed. I also have a spare PCB which I can check for ROMs etc.

Got it.

I picked up this Gaplus PCB from my good buddy @SCUBA King It works great and I can enable the Hyper ship on level one.

Based on your post here I'm guessing I have the gaplusdGaplus (GP2 rev. D, alternate hardware)
I'm getting ready to move the cab and install this PCB and if there is a way to add HSS that would be great.

I think @GadgetFreak tool will do it

Your best bet is to read in your 8b, 8c, 8d roms are let the patcher detect which version you have.
Circling back to this. After almost 3 years later, I finally got this working. And it was an error on my part! I was swapping the 11b, 11c and 11d roms (which was incorrect), it should have been 8b, 8c and 8d). That would explain the graphical glitches I saw. Duh.

I guess letting it rest for almost 3 years and looking at it again with a fresh set of eyes was enough to make me realize my oversight. I didn't even need to re-burn the EPROMs I made years ago. I just put them in the right place this time. 😅 Presto!

Well if it's a simple as someone burning a new eprom I'd be willing to test.
I believe you need to add a socket to 10 L as well for the NVRAM replacement. That said, I discovered the Gaplus PCB is picky on the speed of the NVRAM. 200ns works fine and the faster 100ns does not. Go figure.
