(SOLVED) Electrohome GO7 with distorted lines only on the first row of the display

Got a GO7 I'm working on that is giving me fits. Have fixed several issues on the chassis already. Yes the colors are off. That is another problem to be addressed. However the one I'm stuck on is the squiggly lines in the first lines when using a TPG or a game board.

The chassis has a cap kit and it does this with the curl mod or without the curl mod. I'm starting to lean towards the flyback as it is the original.

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. You can see the squiggles at the top of the screen. As can be seen the rest of the picture except for colors and centering is spot on.

Anyone got any ideas?

Ed

You know 100x more about repairing these than I do, but why not just go ahead and replace the flyback since running with the original flyback is a bad idea, particularly since you've put new caps in and suspect it might be the flyback anyway?

Try a JAMMA board and/or put new battery in your TPG. Sometimes TPG does this but doesn't show up with a game PCB.

As much as I was glad to acquire a tpg, I never use it on g07s.

Lets see the pic with a pcb.

Oh, I can't let that one go. Why?

I have sat there for hours trying to iron out what I perceived were imperfections in my image (using tpg), only go find out the image looked perfect when using a pcb.

Simple as that.

In my opinion the tpg should be used to prove a monitor is working, not to dial in an image to "perfection".

Edit: I see that Ed used a game board already.

Fwiw, I haven't bothered using my tpg in a year or so.

Didn't have a new one when I started this. Just got a few in yesterday afternoon. That is the next thing. Also I'm surprised with the new caps it didn't explode.

Ed, is my memory playing tricks with me or did you stop repairing monitors a year or so back?

Your memory is okay. Yes I did stop repairing. However, I still fix a few here and there. Just GO7's and WG K4900's

I don't have access to the space I had before to work on monitors. I just have my garage now. I have a car apart and there just isn't that much space left. Plus with the welding, grinding and sanding, it's just not good for the chassis.
