I played the shit out of the NES version back in 1986-88, but now that I finally hooked up my 19 in 1 board in my new GNG cabaret cab, I was able to play this game in an arcade cabinet. The graphics are simple but detailed, the music and sounds are classy, the game play is addictive. What I wanna know is, is the board emulating the NES version or the arcade version? Or were they pretty much identical? I see a dedicated Solomon's Key cabaret in my future.

I played this also on NES back in the day...still have it along with my entire NES collection...I pulled out the cartridge and on the box its licensed to be played on nintendo by Tecmo...and refers to the "arcade hit" so it must have been in the arcades in some capacity..although I don't remember it...

I'm a fan of that game from NES days also. I have looked for a dedicated PCB but never been able to find one.

Takeman and myself have been on a mission to get someone to make the art for this. We have both an original marquee vectored as well as an instruction card (and working boards obviously). Theres been ideas kicked around for laying it all out, but nothing has been done yet.

It is a most excellent of games. Even on free play I dont even think I can make it half way through it.

By far one high quality game, that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. As mentioned above, played the hell out of this on NES. Glad my multi has this on it :D

Awesome game I agree Phet. Always a favorite to play.

The question is Did they actually make a dedicated machine. It was my understanding that it was only a jamma Kit. I've never seen one or heard of a dedicated cab. But I'd love to see the thing if it exists.

I can help with the artwork, if we can find some original side art somewhere. Otherwise we'll have to gather up flyers and the NES box art and create something. Rather than try and locate an original Japanese PCB, I am just gonna run the game off of a 19 in 1, which seems to have a pretty spot-on version of the game anyway. I'll just turn the other games off.

Yeah it was a kit game, but an obscure one. I am of the mindset that if it wasn't dedicated then, we can dedicate it now.

Great idea. I think I might do that too. I still have a little old video poker machine that will only work for a 1 player horiz game. I could make it into a dedicated mini Solomons Key.

Due to this being a kit, the side art was just the generic tecmo side art. The idea I had discussed was using art from the NES cartridge box. Maybe bricks, characters, jewels etc for the bezel that runs down and continues on the CP. But hey, any which way that looks nice would be great. The marquee is really odd. Completely white plexi with blue and orange lettering.

Let me know if youd like what I already have for this game.

gonna have to turn this one back on and give it another chance.
i didn't really get it the first time and thought it was clunky.
glad to know it's a decent game overall....

Scans of the artwork at about 300-600 dpi would be fine. We'll go from there.

You can email it to me (whenever you get to it) at my user name @hotmail.com.
