Soldering repair needed for space invaders deluxe pcb

Hello all
I bought the braze kit for my upright sid
Well it indicates I have bad ram

I'm assuming multiple bad ram
I got one leg off and that took me awhile

The area is extremely tight and hard to repair in
I have the exact ram replacements purchased

But need someone I can send my board and ram to replace and repair it for me

This is a very nice board and I'd hate to damage it
My equipment is limited so I'd rather someone who is experienced in sid ram repair

I am willing to pay for the repair

Here is a pic of area

I can fix. PM me if your interested.
I currently charge $100 flat labor not including parts and return shipping.
but if you can send me the parts you have and I'll use those so no cost for those parts.

I've got all the equipment to replace that ram for you if you want to bring it down and work something out.

Where are you at in OH - I'm in NE OH and can help out. Also, you may consider some high grade dual wipe sockets as you replace the RAM - I've done that in all the ones I have replaced on mine.

If you have minimal equipment, the easy way to do this on your own is to use flush cutters to cut the ram logs off at the chip body.

Then use needle nose pliers, heating up the backside till the solder melts, then pull the leg out.

Once removed you can go over the holes with a soldering iron and a solder sucker.

This method should allow you to minimize heating time on the board which can lift traces.

The above method is slower than using a desoldering iron/station, but it is usually available to most people even with basic equipment.

Wow guys thanks for the quick responses
Awesome to see a group so willing to help someone out

My time is limited too so I will be in touch
This place is great

Hopefully you'll get some local help, which will save you from paying shipping.

Let us know how it turns out.

Yes I'm looking for local help first.
Will be glad when this one is up and running solid
Thanks klov

I still need someone to help me with this

I have all new ram but would like new sockets installed for the ram

I can ship and pay for the repair but everyone in the thread seemed fairly busy and I'd like to get this done soon if possible please pm me if you have experience with these boards

How small are these chips?

Smaller than the nintendo ones I was doing on my dk restore?

You can see my work on that thread

where is that thread of yours? I mean they are not that small just in a precarious spot and theres probably 8-16 I need replaced and sockets added if possible

thats not smd, its all thru hole, not an enjoyable task to take on removing all of those ram and replacing with sockets

does the braze self test tell you which ram is bad? as others said clip the legs of the bad chip and cautiously remove the remaining legs, clean up and install socket & new ram

digikey stocks the sockets

Do you mean me? Because I was simply speaking skill, not the task at hand.
