We have a sales guy that comes by our offices every once and a while to check on our current stock. Last week, he saw my Pacman in the office, and asked to buy it. I told him that I had more games at my house. Fast forward to today, he called and said he wanted the 60-in-1. $800 and an extra space in my garage later, and here we are now.

WOOT WOOT!

Id give this story a 4/10 bro.

Sorry, Adam. Next time I will have guns and drugs involved.

Expect to see in on CL for $1699

Probably...lol.

I didnt know you had one,so what you gonna do with the extra funds and space?

Yeah, I built it a couple years ago when I first got into this stuff. Space has been filled already with another game...lol. Money is going all over (arcades parts, casino, bills, etc).

congrats on preying on the stupid and ill-informed?

Since, you know the whole story, and all...

$800 is really nothing to someone who doesn't know how to go about setting up a bunch of games in one cabinet. I sold a mamed cabinet for $800 recently as well. I think I'm going for a grand next time.

Buy low, sell high. Not everyone who wants to play a bunch of games wants to learn how to make it happen. Congrats.

Eh, I've sold custom mame machines for $1k plus. The parts cost a bunch, the art if it's custom costs a bunch. The margins just aren't that good actually. Edit; aren't always there...

I wasn't going to say anything, because it would probably spark a pointless debate, but since you mentioned it, I totally agree. The buyer determines the price. If he offered me $5000, I surely wouldn't have said, "nope, no deal; it's only $800". I would have glady excepted the $5000, but as it turns out I asked $800, and he had no problem with that price. Buyer happy, seller happy is a win/win.

The margins are a hell of a lot better than doing a complete restoration and then selling the POS for less than you put into it. I think everybody needs to ratchet up their price expectations a little. I see a lot of guys whining about the prices on ebay, but those are truly representative of what things are worth. People forget that markets are dynamic.

So very true. Classic cars are the same way. I always expect to break even, at best, on any restoration.

Here Adam, let me show you how this is done..

You are getting some flak because you ripped someone off.

I'll get some flak for posting that.

But that is the business, no way you'd be able to sell a 60-in-1 to a collector or enthusiast for that price, but def to someone who doesn't know any better or who doesn't want to put in the time.
