So recently I sold a large # of my vids (somewhere around 20) and ended up buying a bunch of pins (somewhere around 15). Even though it was a smart move for me, I think im starting to regret this decision.
I enjoy playing the pins, but the vids have all the nostalgia.

from left to right: Earthshaker, Catacomb, Centaur, Embryon, Strikes and Spares, Spectrum and Capt. Fantastic

Poor you ...

No sympathy from me ... look at those pics you just posted. That is some sweet science right there. Plus, you'll have 20 more vids by month's end.

Bummer for the loss of nostalgia, but on the other hand congrats on the business boom. Is this all traffic from the 1UpStairs???

all pins

i like a variety of both. have some pins, but mostly arcade. i have a baby pacman and trying to acquire a granny and the gators to go with the pins and arcade, then i have the best of both worlds!!

I say bad move selling the vids . Never sell ,

But you can always get them again , they are more common than pins and cheaper .

I currently have 7 vids and 3 pins. If I had more space, I would probably keep around a 3:1 vid: pin ratio. I didn't start playing pins until 1986, so it is mostly vids that I remember growing up.

I've been wondering why I've seen so many post of yours on Craigslist lately...I've been wondering for a while now why I'm not buying that Centipede/Millipede/Missile Command you currently have listed. On the other hand, I thought my wife was going to pull an occular muscle rolling her eyes when I came home one day with a non-working Flash pinball so I don't know what she'd do if I came home with that multi-Pede.

I definitely love the vids, but after getting into pinball I've come to like them a bit more. I don't have as much room to put games, so being able to do a multicades are nice and you can't really save space like that with Pins. For me, though, working on the Pins is a lot of fun - the mix of mechanical and electronics work is a lot of fun.

I think you have a good mix of old and new pinballs there...to me Embryon was one of the best widebodies made. My son has been wanting one ever since we played it at Lakewood Grill a few months ago. I also agree that it is probably easier to find "good vids" versus "good pinballs" - so many pins I see are is such bad shape.

I could never do either/or, it has to be both. I only had vids for like 5 years, and was amazed at how well rounded the first pin made my gameroom feel... 3 or 4 pins seems like about the right number for me (have 2 now).

Personally,
I'd say the Earthshaker, and Spectrum was the biggest loss, but you did just bring in like 80,000 dollars in pinballs, so I think you'll manage to make it through the long, cold, winter without getting toooooo bored. ;)

....

Well, I keep saying to myself.... I have to try to enjoy stuff while the trend is big. And it seems that pinball is where its at. Who knows, maybe ill sell them all and buy myself some beanie babies next.

Naaa beanie Babies are not that cool anymore . I'd go with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures instead , now those kick ass !

I say avoid "Trends" and go with what YOU like.... My arcade is for ME. I don't see anyone else pitching in any money to buy vids, pins or what's "IN" for the moment. If I get bored playing this or that I have plenty of others to play until I get the urge to play something else. It goes in cycles and I can't see selling because I'm bored and then spending more to get it back later or have to fix up another one all over again.

...

heh, DPtwiz... luckily your opinion isnt important to me :)

I like some of those classic pins and I usually only buy games that I like. I stopped collecting trophy games long ago.

soooo many more better titles out there. Funhouse, haunted house, hurricane, black knight.. just saying :)

You like that Spectrum? Looks like a cool game, I've never played it.

...

Spectrum is awesome.

I actually agree with you DPtwiz, the games you listed are awesome.
I have a Vulcano, Seawitch and some other older games too. Personally I like that era of games, but its hard to compare them to 90s pins.

Out the bunch I pictured, im probably only gonna keep the Earthshaker, Embryon, Centaur and Spectrum. The rest ill sell off soon.
