I know this isn't really an arcade game topic, but I consider it at least arcade related.

Anyone here have a Soda or vending machine in their home arcade? I ask this, because sometime this summer when I have some actual time to do so, I'm going to find and buy a late 80's early 90's Pepsi machine for my arcade. (I want the pepsi machine that Tom Hanks character has in the movie Big...you see it when he brings that chick over to his apartment in the city) I think its so cool to have a machine like that in an arcade. Kind of rounds out the 80's feel to me.

For those of you who do have a machine...how much heat does it kick out? Anyone have any real problems with them? I'm pretty stoked to get one and pleased that their readily available on craigslist for decent prices.

Anyone have pics of soda machines in your game rooms?

We drove by a garage sale this weekend with both a coke and pepsi machine out amongst their stuff... Wife and I talked about getting one (for beer), but decided against it.

There is one here at a closed down motel. The place is for sale. I emailed the realtor about it. No help. Probably going to have to send a letter to the estate that owns it to see if they will sell it to me.

Who knows, maybe they'll let you have it for free if you just get it off of their property.

I thought about this, but I really didn't need one more type of old screwball equipment to maintain. If I didn't already have a kegerator, I'd probably get one and put both soda and canned beer in it.

They definitely add a cool vibe to a gameroom.

I am going to call the Realtor tomorrow, if they don't help me I will be forced to send a letter to the estate. It's nice that Michigan makes it easy to find the name and address of a property owner. The owner lives in California.

Here's mine, it's a Vendo 90 from 1964 and we use it every day. I set the mech for nickels and we keep a bowl full on top. It's stocked with bottled pop including Mexican Coca-Cola with real cane sugar. Even though it's a square top machine, I like how the graphics pay tribute to the earlier machines. Restoration-wise it required a good cleaning, some cold galvanizing spray inside, general wiring clean-up and finally buffing compound followed by auto wax to restore the gloss to the outside.

The wife wants a bottle machine. There is a guy here in Michigan called Dan the Soda Man and he carries a huge variety of glass bottled pop.

I have a 60s model Vendo bottle machine (154 IIRC) in Dr Pepper green. :)

Here is the machine that I have in my 'cade:

Pop and beer are sooooo much better in glass bottles.
Mine really does not kick out that much warm air. Do you really need a monster machine like that?

I've got a 1971 Cavalier Coke machine in my garage (Raymond helped me check it out before buying it). We use it all the time....so much so that I have never gotten around to fixing the dead vend slot or restoring the inside. I rigged up a credit button instead of using nickels. The most popular part of it....the original "Sugar Free Dr Pepper" flavor label still in place.
