Pre-mix or post-mix?

If pre, I'm not an expert, but you probably only need to find a means to chill your cold plate.

If post, well, that's a whole 'nother ball of fun. I'll get back to you when I'm done with my WunderBar gun setup. I can help you with some of the basics, but, as stated, I haven't finished mine yet due to the water quality (well water) issues that need to be addressed first.

Here is an old website I have bookmarked: http://www.boneville.net/soda/

umm.... i dont know lol.. i believe it all mixes right at the head so thats post mix???

i believe the water comes in, gets carboneted, then chilled??? then mixes with the syrup at the head. Theres co2 pumps that pump the syrup i believe...

do i need to also keep the carbonator cold???

Hey stop by sometime and I will show you mine. Not set-up at the moment, but I have a 6 head unit with a drop in. You need to chill the water and syrup lines. I'll dig up some info I have and send it over to you.

If you need to use BIB syrup, then it is post. Pre uses corny kegs.

You don't need to chill the carbonator, but do need the get the cold plate downright chilly. It will cool your water and syrups. Give the website I referenced a look and you will be most of the way there. They don't go into the brix process much, but that's the last thing you'll need to do except ongoing maintenance.

My WunderBar gun setup is mostly pieces. Since you have a fountain head setup, it should be mostly self-contained. Make sure those pumps are clean clean clean. Likewise, the soda heads, too.

yeah i saw that.. our local one has coke and some generics..

you can also order more stuff on samsclub.com.....

My setup has the connector for the box/bag syrup so thats post mix??? i guess lol

i do-not-yet have a cold plate.. Im not sure if im going to to the official aluminum cold plate route or if in going to try to make my own.. i found some water chillers but i am unsure if they can handle carbonated water( if theres any copper in there ill get sick!!!!!!!)

***so-with the chiller plate im pumping syrup and the carbonated water through in seperate channels? as in that im chilling both??? ****

i was thinking for a homebrew get alot of stainless or aluminum tubing and make a coil for carbonated water and a coil for each syrup, then wrap the coils in "cold packs" and then install all that mess in a larger mini fridge i have then set the fridge to just above freezing... or i could use 3 of something like these:http://www.transmissioncoolers.us/M...1&Category_Code=hayden-cooler&Product_Count=0

and use a small fan inside the fridge to blow the cold air across the coils...

not ideal but it might just work...

its form pepsico so its pepsi..

schizzzz so i need to change em out dont i? man this kraps getting effing espensive lol

damn I always thought this would be cool to have but now seeing how much crap is required Ill stick with a keg/tap set up

The syrup and carbonator lines need to be food grade stainless steel, as do the fittings. FDA braided hose is ok also. Be sure there is a backflow preventer on the inlet of the carbonator pump. carbonated water is very corrosive. It eats most metals, and then you get poisoned. The cold plates are aluminum cast over stainless tubing. Putting the cold plate in the fridge will work for light usage.

the plan now is to get one if not two cold plates and wrap them in cold packs, stick in the mini fridge at near freezing temp setting and hope for the best. i will esperiment in placement as in at the bottom, directly under the freezer part, etc untill it works right...

after reasearching, i dont wanna die due to bieng cheap and not using the proper chiller so i will be getting a proper cold plate or two....

the plan is to have this going by christmas but who knows lol

got a cold plate coming... but realized its only 2 circuit so im only going to be able to chill one syrup and the carbonated water.. oh well.. thatll work for now i guess... been busy hacking....er....i mean "building" a wood cabinet to house the mini fridge(that will hold the cold plate/s) carbonator, pumps, regs, hoses/etc

were getting closer!

cant wait to gey my syrup and co2!!!!!

caddi if you need a larger cold plate go to my works website chicompany.net we carry everything you need if anything find it on the site and let me try and work you a deal. we carry everything from stainless fitting/ hose to entire fountain systems

now ya post lol

oh well. ill definastely keep thast cold plate you guys have in mind.. issue is i have that mini fridge and im unsire of one of those large ones will fit!

I can't get over everyone wants a soda setup but there was little interest in mine that A/C cooled. You can get one of those old ice bins hotels/renstraunts had and drop the cold plate to the bottom of it. The ice on top will keep it cooled perfectly.
