Safe to say that many of our Tron machines will be coming home soon. Ill be picking mine up over the weekend. I made about $70 in my small town, along with free passes and posters. Game was acually reliable, for the most part. A couple small issues.

Just curious if anyone has had better luck, or worse? Any casualties?

Of course I'm picking up my Tron this Sunday, but not from route... Just bought mine, wish I could have gotten one in time to put it out and catch some money from hype. Might see if a local video store wants to have it for awhile once it comes out on DVD. We shall see.

$70, that's it? Figured the game would have make a couple hundred. Is the $70 before or after you split with location? Any chance of me snagging a movie poster from you?

I think $70 is respectable, for sure. Question is, how much per game did you charge, and how long exactly was it out?

Either way, that's a decent ammount for a classic machine.

I think 70$ is a good bit because Keith had it set to 25 cents and lives in a really small town.

Acually I had mine set to 50 cents. But there were a couple times when it lost memory and went back to 25 cents. It stayed on 50 cents per play for the most part. I saw the movie opening night, about 50 other people were at the 7pm show that I was at, and not one of them stopped to play the game. Goes to show how spoiled the X-Box generation really is these days. I think about half my earnings were from theatre employees. A couple in particular had told me they played it regularly. It's been on location since Thanksgiving week.

Ill have to go thru these posters, and there are a couple others who have first crack at any extras, if there are any left. Ill let you know if I can spare one. I didnt have to share my earnings and there was no lease in place. Just basically a "put your game here and keep the quarters" agreement, which I'm betting is the case with most everyone else who did this.

So basically I paid for the switcher and adapter that I bought for $65 and installed before putting it on location. So much for a restore. Anyone do any better?

Oh I thought you said it was set on 25 cents, my bad

I think that I probably earned about $200 - $400 by not buying a Tron this past year and waiting until all the hoopla dies down later this year or next!

:-D

No $ to report (free play) but some technical issues

The two on free play for the Alamo Drafthouse Theaters in the Austin area both have had some technical issues.

For Tron #1: I mostly rebuilt the old PS and it ran for a couple months then quit. I installed a switched PS kit and then noticed the sprites looked 'hairy' or were missing detail. Modessitt and I found a replacement video board in my collection of Tron boards. All good since then.

For Tron #2: The free play button had to be repaired as it got so much play it fatigued. No biggie. Then in the last two weeks the controller wouldn't go left so had them power it off until I could look. Then it wouldn't boot up. It had done this on occasion they told me but they just powered off then on and it was fine (they turn the machines off at night - recommended they do that). So, Modessitt and I went through my boards again and no dice (well, one kind of worked but then quit). So I found a replacement Tron board set from member cdjump (great guy to deal with). Installed it. Fixed the broken ground on the leaf switch and all good.

These both have to make it until 1/17 when they will be given away. Fingers crossed. :)

They have been out on location since late August as I recall. They seem to have gotten a good bit of play and people have been signing up to be on an email list for the theater (that was the idea - to collect more email addresses for the theaters. Sign up and you are entered to win.).

well, mine's been working fine without any hiccups (knock on wood) and made around $10, but that's cause it sits in my gameroom and just me and a few friends have played it...

Mine has been at the pizza shop for 3 weeks now and it's still running. It was dropped there with the coin counter reading 64060 and as of this past sunday, the counter read 64597. Honestly, i'm not that impressed considering all the promoting this guy did for this game and his business and this is in a fairly high profile location. A final tally will be posted when i pull the game at the end of the month.

Well in 12 hours or so I should be pulling up to pick up my Tron. Thinking of maybe finding a video store (ha, do they even exist anymore) and putting it on location when the movie comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray. See if I can make a little bit back off of it. Dunno if I can even find a video store in the county that doesn't have amusement fees to make it worth while.

Did you actually get to put yours in a movie theater? I never heard back from the member here who said he was going to look into that.

Here is Chris's Tron on location. I know a few people were asking for a pic of the place. From my cell phone, so quality is lacking.

Never seen a Xevious turned into a defender before.

It is a little too bright in there. Nice arcade though.

Yeah, they have a couple "interesting" conversions. The worst is the Centipede. It used to on the end so you could see the side art. It is all painted white and the side art is free handed on there. Not sure what the cab originally was. They recently took out a Galaga and Asteroids and put in that Area 51 and a Multicade. They also have Simpsons, Mario Bros., Ms. Pacman, Frogger, Centipede, Defender and Dig Dug. They all usually work, but of course the wife and I went there yesterday and the Gilligan's Island pin and the Defender are out of order.

Yeah, it was in the Cinema 8.

$70 in Fulton, MO ain't all that bad, it's Fulton after all....

Are you trying to say something about Fulton?

I doubt it would have been any better in Columbia or JC. Maybe STL or KC. But I wanted to keep a close eye on the game.

Yes. The people I met in Fulton when I lived there for a year were exceptionally cheap and it's a lot smaller than Columbia. So I think you did well all considering, Keith. That's my opinion and I'm very happy to not live in Fulton anymore, I imagine the currnet Fulton residents would probably agree. There's only one thing in Fulton that holds any interest to me and it a store called "This and That" on the south side of town but it's just not worth a 70 mile drive.
