So what did you do to your pins today....

Finished shopping out our Bally Black Rose and doing an LED install. It looks great and plays a lot faster now, it's a great game.

WOW! That is a really cool machine. Hope to get something that nice someday!

Finished repairs on nba fastbreak, including new left ramp, opto replacements, new pop bumper, reflowed solder on trough opto boards, and general cleaning!

OK, not my pin, but I did this to a friend's No Fear: several switches were out and when started, the trough would kick all the balls out, repeat, unless the connector for dedicated switches near the coin door was unplugged. Turns out all the switches were in the same row; the row had continuity from the pf switches to the connector pin on the pcb. So, I checked the circuit trace for that switch row on the pcb, on solder joint on a capacitor looked iffy and I reflowed it.

Game started up fine, all switches worked, and the ball eject problem went away. Happy, happy!

Did and LED upgrade on our Stern Harley Davidson 3rd Edition today. It came out really nice. A lot of the original GI had burned out bulbs so it came out way better than before, nice and bright.

Got the sound working on my newly acquired Phantom of the Opera. SO much better with sound :)

I can hear the music and scream in my head now. Play this on the pinball arcade app quite a bit but have never had the opportunity to put time on a real one. how you liking it?

I like it a lot, but then my favorite era is the Williams System 11 machines. It's a simple game with fantastic art and sound. It's not a thinking machine, that is, it is more of just play a quick game, not a deep rules set.

On it's own I think it might tire eventually, but in my collection I feel it's a nice compliment.

4 of my 8 pins had credit dots on them, so I got 2 of them (Monster Bash and Creature from the Black Lagoon) back to running error free yesterday.

I ordered 3 new switches for Scared Stiff, so hopefully I'll have that one back on track by this time next week.

For Bram Stoker's Dracula, I need to do a bit more research. I'm getting a "right ramp up" error message. Sometimes the coffin ramp gets stuck in the up position. I'm not sure what's going on there, but I'll get it sorted out.

I also ordered PinGulps for all of my pins.

My BSD ramp up issue was a physical issue. The assembly was just too tight to let the ramp drop consistently. It's been years since I've owned, so can't give you specifics, but it's worth starting there.

I still need to figure out my BSD issue (honestly haven't looked at it since my last post), but Scared Stiff is now error free. It was nice to get the Stiff-O-Meter going again. :)

BSD is now my only game with an error. I'm hoping to get a look at it tomorrow.

Put a new trap door assembly in my funhouse. all was good till the welded stud broke loose and started spinning as i was trying to tighten the lock nut.(its flush on the top side). let me tell you. that REALLY sucked. had to hold the nut, and turn the threaded screw end with pliers to tighten it. counter clockwise.while juggling the play field. oh, and its a very tiny screw/bolt. only took 5 times longer than i should have. lol. all good now.

Mosfet upgrade on Sys 7 Driver and recapped and bulletproofed the PS board. Next on the list is to shop out the BK, new plastics, rubbers and lights.

Have a neighbor with an awesome collection. Helped him move Scared Stiff a few weeks ago, tonight got the reward. Played WoZ, AMH, Rob Zombie, AFM, Tron, Whirlwind, geez some others. On top of that got a lead on a cheap T&F game. Good night of pinball.

Fixed a sticking ST:TNG cannon solenoid by installing a cushion to prevent the metal stopper from contacting the bottom of the coil.
Fixed a resetting TZ by cleaning the pins of J101, J102 and J210.
Fixed switch matrix errors on TAF by crimping on a new J206 connector.
Did not fix but almost certainly figured out the trouble with a jittery Path of Adventure playfield: bad opto on the motor opto switch board.
Played a few games of Cyclone so it didn't feel unloved.

Thought about how to make space / money to acquire TSPP.

This has been over the course of several days:

Cleaned up, waxed, and made some minor repairs to my Robocop.

Tried about a dozen different fixes but can't get rid of a buzzing from the speakers; not the usual Williams/DE sound that follows the lamp matrix show. This is a steady, annoying, ground loop buzz. Going to have to break down and go the aux power supply route.

Figured out that Marco sent me a left flipper baseplate instead of a right (ugh..oh well...mistakes happen). So put my flipper rebuild on hold. They were very good about shipping the correct item out immediately when I contacted them today so props to them for that.

I finally lit up and installed the Ark of the Covenant into my Indy pin.

I wired up three LEDs I had in the parts bin: one is white for fill, and the others blue and yellow for highlights. Each has a resistor in line and then the whole mess is wired in parallel:

A little hot glue secures them in place on the bottom of the Ark, with enough of their leads free so they can be manipulated to get the lighting and color balance as desired. The white stuffing diffuses the light and adds a bit of supernatural. Also there's a smidge of aluminum tape on part of the lid to boost the amount of yellow:

A line of hot glue along the back edge of the lid is enough to hold it in place at an angle that seemed right:

I installed it on the right ramp since it complements the 'Lite Jackpot' plastic that comes from the factor on the left ramp:

There's plenty off clearance for the ball to make the ramp, and then fished the wire through an existing hole under the ramp. I thought about connecting to general illumination, and then to the arrow pointing up the ramp, but in the end I wired it to the Ark Jackpot lamp:

And here's the mod in action during play:
