so what did u do with your games today?

I bought a tempest cabinet that was converted to street fighter 2. Stripped that one down. Soldered a new jamma edge connector on my street fighter and dropped the pcb in that. So that cabinet is now back working. I also pieced together couple trackball I had to get one back in my centipede..1000020914.jpg

So you're the one the guy in Woodland sold it to! lol I was messaging him, but unfortunately as you can tell wasn't the lucky the one. Glad to see it go to someone who is not looking to flip it. Are you going to restore the Tempest cabinet?

I recently got my Ms Pacman and Galaxian going and have played them a bunch. Got my Defender cab out so I could work on it.

I was shocked I got it.. He said he had a lot of messages. I am not sure what I will do with the cabinet. I would love to have a tempest, but this thing is missing everything. Think I rather buy one complete then try to source all the parts.1000020915.jpg

If you decide to part with it let me know! Would love to see this thing all restored! What a score you got!

I faced off with a young Praying Mantis while working on my Vs Super Mario. Really was the least of my problems. This thing was a mouse-filled, barn find disaster.

Chewed up bottom edges, the cabinet had a heavy tilt with one of the sides no longer fully attached. Lots of gluing, clamping, sanding, bleaching. Used fiberglass bondo to rebuild the bottom edges. First time using that instead of regular bondo. It's harder to get smooth, but it's strong stuff. Sprayed the black edges of the cabinet along with the backdoor and the coin doors. Prepping for laminate, don't mind the black overspray.

I made a second "console area" with my spare consoles and PVMs that were boxed up in storage. I have a game room in the house, and the arcade in the garage, but wanted some of the game room in the arcade.

In this area I've included two 13 inch PVMs linked together with a GSCARTw and five consoles capable of playing games from EIGHT different platforms. Everything switches automatically and outputs in RGB.

Finding a good way to mount the PVMs on the wall was a bit of a pain, but I ended up using a commercial kitchen wall shelf (meant for like a microwave) and drilled it into the studs. The little console cart thing is low quality and is from IKEA, but does the job.

Continued work on removing alien adhesive from my Lunar Lander marquee.

Continued paint removal from LL CP, inventing new colorful metaphors about those who would have performed such an atrocity.

I spent a few hours filling the extra holes in my Data East cabinet control panel. After stripping it looks like it was a Karnov. I might see if I can find a PCB. I like to restore game back to original if I can. I ordered some 2" rounds to fill in the extra joystick holes.

Over the last couple days I installed a Dr. Mario bezel (the graphic design by @Phetishboy) that I purchased from Szabo's Arcades. It looks really nice on the cabinet. I have some DrM side art from TOG that I will eventually install.

I also disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled the better of my two Outrun shifter units as I cobble together the best components into one nice machine.

Continuing this weekend to repair the Outrun dashboard and transplant the steering mechanism. And hopefully recapping the monitor chassis for my Altered Beast project as well.

Where do you order the round plugs from?

Watched someone "lame play" Tail Gunner II in the 15 best Vector Games video.

Went and played it right in my basement!

Got some time to continue working on this PITA. It's 90% working, but I still have some bulb sockets to replace, and what appears to be an intermittent grounding issue I'm still working out.
