So it begins - MJ Moonwalker on ebay

What a crappy conversion! But hey its MJ. I can see that worth the $$$'s as much as the few thriller albums that have sold for close to $900.00.

I have a few moonwalker board sets lying around - Are they now worth $1k each LOL

doubt it but, you never know what some crazy will pay. I'm sitting right next to a vinyl copy of thriller that I bought for $2.99 some years ago that looks no different than one I saw sell on ebay for over a grand yesterday.

I would say that if you're looking to sell now is the time!

Let me be the first to say... WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? :D

Profitteering from death.....

I remember back in 2001 when Dale Earnhardt died on the track. Rough day for race fans.

A friend of mine owned a model shop, and die cast collectable shop. Tons of Earnhardt pieces, some very rare, and autographed.

He didn't jack up his prices when he opened his shop on Tuesday, after Dale died, and he turned one guy away after buying a bunch of stuff that OBVIOUSLY wasn't going into his personal collection. Dude was even bragging about the massive profit he was going to get from what he bought. Thats why he stopped him from buying more. Turning away customers because of a princple.

I learned a lot about respect that day...more that I thought I knew.

Like this guy or not, Jackson will still be remembered for his music, and his moves, plus some very strange behavior over the years, some very questionable at that. But still, the music and moves is what peolpe will remember the most in my opinion. He won't be remembered because there was a game named for him, nor for some of his other oddball behavior.

Just like Earnhardt, Lennon, Princess Di, Tim Richmond, and the legendary Elvis, there will be a legacy that will last long after the profits shrink, and the trash talking is done.

I still wouldn't pay big bucks for a Moonwalker game, or buy a Daytona USA game because Dale Earnhardt drove in NASCAR, and I sure wouldn't buy a sequined jumpsuit because I like Elvis.

Moonwalker is just a game, and not one of the best ones out there.

Moral of the story...Can't say anything nice about someone, might as well just not say anything. And making a profit from some who has just passed on....sick.

What is the difference between say selling MJ stuff now to maximize your profits versus buying and scalping a Lakers finals ticket? The value of all memorbelia goes up after the person passes on. Buying low and selling high is called capitalism, no? FWIW I do not own a single MJ thing.

...but at a grand a pop, I'm sure going to check out the used section of the local indie record shop this weekend and see what they got.

I had a friend that had a nascar Earnhardt signed race tire, and a few others listed on ebay, and the auction was 99.00 no bid, and earnhardt was killed while the auction was running.. ended above 2K...

So goes the life of the music memorabilia collector. Everyone knows what happens. Taking the high road is fun and all, but when one of the guys in KISS croaks my son will likely have his first year of college paid for.
