So, I'm an idiot.

Unfortunately, several of the pots on the chassis are covered in this chewing-gum-like substance that stops the dials from turning. If that's the case with this one, I'll just leave well enough alone...

Looks like chewing gum eh? I've encountered some white silicone type glue on components and that stuff was pretty tough to get off of there. On the other hand there are some really hard type stuff they put on the pots (colored like red or something) and that stuff usually comes off pretty easy.

Yeah, this was white stuff that looked like chewing gum... probably white silicone glue. Fortunately, there wasn't any on my pincushion control. Some fine tuning and bam! Looks really good. :)

EXCEPT NOW I AM GETTING INTERMITTENT FLYBACK SQUEAL. :F

Just can't win. :) Unless anyone has some hints (I've read something about a toothpick hack but I'm not sure if that's going to help here) I'm going to just live with the squeal for now, and I'm confident in being able to replace the flyback later if necessary. Thanks again everyone -- I've learned a lot.
