To connect my "Missile Command" room with the small side of my arcade. The only problem was there is a ton of crap in the way. An outlet, 2 water pipes and a drain pipe, and two 2x4s. So I contemplated it for months while I worked on other projects. Finally got it done. Now there is a hole in the wall (looks like an entrance to a gold mine, or something out of Indiana Jones) which one can pass thru to get into my Missile Command room. Here's some pics:

Full transformation of MC room here: http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n601/gorfmaster/Missile Command Room/?start=all

I started cutting out sections of the sheetrock first...

Ran into all the pipes and electrical. The blue side you see here is from inside the Missile Command room (supposed to be a bathroom). Why have a toilet and sink when you can put games in there instead?

I had to cut all the pipes (they were dead, unused sections meant for the sink and shower), rewire the electrical in 2 spots and relocate the outlet to the lower right of the "hole" on the MC side, plus cut two 2x4s that were right in the damn way.

If you're ever looking for stuff from missile silos, I have a ton, and I know a scrap yard that has mountains of old electronics from the Titan II silos. =)

I used the same wood (from an old truck bed) for this project as I did for my Emergency Booth

I angled one side of it about 5 or 10 degrees (lengthwise, up and down) so it looks more like an abandoned mineshaft when you walk thru. I also angled the top crossbars slightly to give it an uneven feel. It's hard to see that from the pics, you'd have to walk thru it in person to get the true feel of it. I love that my arcade is now connected all around. No dead ends.

When you're looking thru the hole from the Skeeball side, you can see the mural I am working on, which is nowhere near completed. Also, I put my turnstile at the entrance of the MC, so it's a one way trip thru, you have to exit out of the "hole".

A few more views. More unfinished mural...also, Missile command, which is the first game in the room after you pass thru the turnstile; it is tucked in a cubbyhole underneath the stairwell. I also have an Asteroids cabaret, Mr. Do! cabaret (Taito SI conversion), and Wizard of Wor in that room. It's nice to be able to sit in the theater seats and watch people play Skeeball or Capcom bowling, and also see thru that hole at whoever is playing games in the MC room.

Oops, almost forgot. Here's a shot before I cut the hole (from farther back)

My photobucket album has pics of my turnstile restoration, and other interesting things as well (in my signature)

Yes, well done! It's giving me a nice Cold War bunker mentality fuzzy... Yep, every Missile Command should have a dedicated cubby hole underneath a stairway... err, I mean... room. The turnstile going in... super cool. Good nostalgia...
Excellent work!

Went to the Highway last night. Had a great time and I love the bunker. John's arcade is so much fun.

Can't wait to stumble through it with a Cold brew in one hand and a lukewarm babe in the other. When's that damn party of yours?
