I've had this Final Fight machine for about 15 years now. Still works great btw. I knew it wasn't the original so finally after 15 years of having this thing I decided to see what was hiding under the paint. Joust, A little dusting and some paint removal and it would look pretty sweet.

Anyone looking for a Joust Cab in Ohio?

In this case, the paint is latex based.. So it's sorta like slowly pealing rubber off. it takes a good razorblade (glass scrapper at wal-mart) and patiance to get between the original paint and the latex based paint. I try to avoid using chemicals until I absolutely have to.

Here is some paint removal I did on a converted turtles cab that took no chemicals

REMOVED IMAGES SEE FURTHER DOWN

How do you remove the black paint without messing up the original paint underneath?

Images not showing for me... :(

Yup sorta.. That TMNT cab was painted over black, and you can see the control panel was converted to an NBA jam cab. I'm struggling with the thought of converting back to TMNT or just mameing it.. I'd like to have a good mame cab and this is looking to be a good candidate. I'd probably leave the TMNT art though. I cant destroy good art.

It is like when art people go to clean a painting and find a completely different painting underneath!

From the front that looks like a nice Final Fight conversion. I would re-paint the sides a nice black and put on some Final Fight side art.

I say restore the cabinet to TMNT, and run whatevere you want inside. Since it is a 4 player cab there aren't any 4 player games with more than the standard 3 buttons! So it is all set!
