So I got this extra game today, and it was in a funny cabinet..

I went to a yard sale today and picked up an arcade machine for a good price.
It's a working Perfect Billards but it's in this oddly shaped cabinet, with extra bumps on it. The cab has been painted gloss black all over, but there are some scuffs that are showing a few spots of pink and red color beneath. Also, the cab had 2 small wheels on the back of it.

Now I'm new to this but I'm thinking "this must be an Atari cab" so when I get it home I check it over for any markings inside or out. None are left, whatever was the original game is long gone.

So I fire up the forums and start looking. I saw Mjenks' thread about his Food Fight and bingo! the shape is the same.

I was thinking of using this cab for a different game, maybe selling the Perfect billards boards, marquee and cp to whoever wanted a pool game.

So 2 questions:
1) How difficult is it to get some Food Fight boards?
2) what would be the best, most gentle way to get that black paint off and reveal the Food Fight glory beneath?

I don't know what poidh means....

So only 500 FF cabs were made? I guess I can write off trying to find a board for this then. I know the marquee and cpo and bezel are available but looks like the boards are history.

here's a pic

This shows the side of it. I can see blue color sticking out from under the black paint on the front around the coin doors as well. I sure hope I can salvage that artwork.

If i could strip off the black paint and reveal the old glory that it was, I'd be tempted. If I can't then well, that's probably going to be the end of it.

Man if I found a game that they only made 500 of i'd sure save it. 500 means 10 in each state, if that. I know there was at least one in Delaware. I'd love to have it.

Goof-Off.

I've used it on pin cabinets and it works like a gem. It stripped off the outer paint and left the original paint intact. From what I've read, it'll only work as long as the "new" paint is a latex, not oil based. Try it on a small, hidden area first and see what happens.

If it does work and you do take that route, just make sure to do it in a WELL ventilated area. The stuff is strong and you will feel "good" pretty quick. Lol!

If the artwork is going to be released, I would restore this cab. Costly to restore but a fun project. You could run Mame in it while you searched for a dedicated PCB.

There were supposedly over 2000 produced, 100 of them were cocktails. Still a pretty small run but not that small.

I sold a working pcb for maybe 100 something last year, they aren't impossible to find or anything.

hit it with some formby's stripper you'll have that black paint off in no time.

I have a extra food fight board works about 95% missing one of the characters send me a pm if your interested.

yeah it's comin off

I started working on it tonight with Dr. somethingorother's Level 5 stripper. It's getting the paint off of the front of it pretty well, it seems the longer I leave it the better it does. I hope this thing comes off well, I've always liked Atari artwork and this one has alot on it.

After you use stripper should you put some neutralizer on it to stop residue from messing up the vinyl? or just a quick wipe with a dry rag is enough?
