so how does go about making a funtional Fix-it Felix cabinet arcade game?

I did a quick KLOV search and have found pics of converted cabs but what have members been using for the physical game? Any online instructions?...Help?

From what I remember reading.. Some are using a simple interface like the Ipac2 or other forms to map the joystick / buttons to interact with the web game.

Yep ipac2 is correct and the Wii version of Wreck It Ralph says there is a bonus 8bit Fix It Felix but as far as I know nobody has figured out how to unlock it or if its true. But if it is on the wii version then we can simply emulate the wii game with dolphin emulator (and a decent PC) and then we can most likely have the arcade like version of the game running in a cab. As soon as the bonus unlock is figured out I will try it.

I may not be an electrical genius but I can follow instructions... when you find out, please let me know.

Building a fix it felix is really just building an interface between a PC and a control panel ipac or mini-pac will work just fine. and will give you the control panel as well as the option for a coin door.

Beyond that it is just a matter of going to the Disney site and saving the page with fix it felix. (Not bookmarking but "Save page as") then you set up a browser on the computer that is to be host to the game with a Unity player plugin.
Set up the Browser in kiosk mode in order to make full screen.
There are a few bell and whistles that can be done like adding the offline page as a start up program on the system so that it will run when the machine is turned on.
Also once you have the page saved you can edit it in Dreamweaver pretty easily.

This trick worked for me previously to get Space Paranoids.

I would like to add that from what I understand the web game is not the same as the 50 that studio used to promote the film. I am not sure what the one for Wii will be like.

If you would like a better description of getting the files feel free to PM me.

Man, I wish that I had the smarts to do that...

working on it

As it turns out they were a little more in depth with protecting this game and built into the game a method of checking to make sure that it is running on their page.

At a time like this a person must ask them selves what would Flynn do?

I am looking into Dissembling the code and getting the dial out check just to check for machine local instead of the .com. I will set up a drop box once I can get it working so KLOV members can PM me once I have it set up and just download.

NateMF: if it is simply checking to see if it is running on the correct domain you should be able to download the game then modify your machines host file to point their domain to local host. Sounds technical but isn't all that difficult. I don't remember where a PC keeps its host file but its just a text file on the drive that resolves domains to addresses. Do some googling and you'll find instructions.

All this is said having never plaid the game or looked at the site. If I get a chance to look at it ill let you know.

yeah at present Ive just gone with my windows pc running Dolphin and playing it that way, so far not found the 8bit unlockable :(
actually isnt a bad game anyway, kinda retro looking, and actually using a xbox fight stick (wired) that im gonna pull apart and throw into cabinet I think, as never use it, and I only have a JVSPAC (no Ipac)

would love just to run the FiF game native :)

How similar is the wii version to the version that they put in the official arcade cabs? It is my understanding that the web version isn't the same

well the actual Wii version is more of the traditional side scroller run, jump pick up stuff, thats tailored around a retro look, in terms of the 'Arcade' Fix It Felix, its meant to be an unlockable, but not got to it yet, hopefully it does match the 'Disney official arcade version' or the movie and not the iOS version :(

So excited to get my vinyls done this week (save for a future project). One of my disgruntled buddys happens to work a a vinyl sign company and is going to do me a freebee. I sent him the files for the marquee, sideart, and bezel but don't know what version of the control panel i should get made. Since this freebee is a onetime deal, I'm having trouble picking out which RidicRick25's control panel files I should get made.... Any suggestions?

BTW, is there a JUMP button for the game?

The cabinets for the promo appeared to have 2 buttons (In addition to P1 and P2). And if it is a freebie why not get both printed and decide later?

Just send him the control panel with both versions mated together as a single graphic and then cut the resulting overlay into 2 pieces one with each style on it. That is they way I do it with my wife's graphic shop to get a bunch of stuff printed up at once.

Really a second overlay will only add another half linear foot to the job, it is really nothing.

So has anyone ripped the online version, accessed the Wii bonus version or leaked the actual arcade-cab version? Surely? Hopefully?

i ran the ipac/disney.com version for 1 day. it was terrible, kids didn't like it.
definitely needs to be a better cab version before it's worthwhile
