Picked up my first cab last week; a Neo Geo 4-slot bought from zutton1. I've been waiting for the day I could walk downstairs and have an actual cab in my family room; makes me smile when I walk by it. The wife is even into it; she and I played 3 hours of Bomberman last night and had a great time. It ended with the sentence "We should have done this a long time ago" (meaning buy a cab). We're already looking for others on our list to buy. I also bought a couple of jamma boards from members here and been having a great time with them.

Sorry if this is a pointless post; just wanted to share my glee.

P.S. While I'm posting, in order to hear sound from Taito games (and others that use the -5v), do I have to solder the hole in the jamma adapter board labeled "-5v connect"? I know I also have to run a wire from the power supply to the MVS harness as per HardMVS documentation. Double Dragon and Final Blow aren't the same without sound.

Congrats on picking up your first cab!

The hole does not need to be soldered, but it is an excellent place to solder your new -5vdc wire to. Otherwise you will need to run the wire to the fingerboard and that can get sloppy.

Thanks! Many more look to be following. :)

So, basically, as far as the -5v wires from the power supply are concerned, instead of wiring them into the MVS harness, I can just solder them both to the adapter board and keep the board inside the cab?

I wasn't really understanding what you wrote before.

You can wire it directly into the MVS harness, and in this case don't worry about any changes to the adaptor. I have heard tales of problems caused by the -5vdc wired into the MVS harness, but I have never experienced any problems with this mod.
