So at CAX last year there was a super sprint with an lcd type of monitor in it....

Does anyone know what it would take and what type of monitor is used for that?
It looked awesome, and I've got a paperboy with a dead monitor and no hope of finding a replacement at this point.

What's wrong with your paperboy monitor?

it's an atari disco and it's dead. No picture. B+ measures ok, it's been recapped. Gone over for no less than 10 hours searching for issues.

If you can fix a disco I'm all for it, let me know.

Maybe Chad can fix it?

Here's a youtube of someone using a converter to use VGA computer monitor with an APB:

so it may be as easy as getting that rgb converter (or whatever it is) and hooking it up to an lcd?

A friend of mine just stuck a 19" LCD in his Narc. It looked good. I'll ask him what he did.

I think it was called "Superer Sprint" or something like that...it was impressive I must say.

One route you could try is to buy a replacement chassis from a place like 8liners.com. I picked up a replacement chassis from them for my Disco monitor that they say will work fine. I haven't actually had a chance to try it yet as my Disco still works well, but I have heard that others in similar situations have bought the same from them, and it worked fine.

Just a suggestion...

they say it works for a medium res disco? There are standard res discos like in I-robot, or med res that is in this paperboy.
I like the lcd idea the best. These med res games are the only ones that look good on lcd's. (my opinion)

Superer Sprint

It was this one:

Definitely cool and fun on a big screen, but it wasn't an LCD. It dwarfed mine at CAX last year which was crammed in the back corner :(

just bumping this to see if someone knows of a good way to handle this switch.

isn't there an CGA/EGA/VGA to whatever adaptor you can get?
I imagine that these are the best way to adapt one signal to another resolution for use on a VGA monitor.

ok I got one of these converters hooked it up and I am getting NO SIGNAL.
I can't get jack shit out of it.

anyone have an idea?

edit: to be clear what I've done.
I connected the wires that would go to the monitor to the converter board.
I connected +5v to the converter board, I'm getting 5.07
I have the lcd computer monitor connected via the vga output of the converter.

no signal, and pushing the SW button to scroll through the different rgb inputs doesn't change anything.

I do have to say once or twice (randomly and for one 1/10th of a second) I thought I saw what I would describe as an unsynced screen.

The converter board has a red led lit, the position is LED1 not sure if that's relevant.
