in Fresno that is advertised as complete and working except it has no monitor for $50. I text the dude only 15 minutes after his post and ask a few questions about it. I tell him I can't pick it up that night but hopefully it will still be available the next day (today). I sent him a text this afternoon (his post was deleted by author last night so I assumed it was gone) and he said it was sold. Cool, no problem.

But then today this stupid post is put up on Fresno Craigslist:

"Looking for someone to repair my Goonies Stand up Arcade machine if you know how to work on Arcades please let me know. Thanks"

Stinks because I have the means to fix this bad-boy. I can envision this cab now sitting in this dude's garage collecting dust for a while.

BumMer man

That sucks.. But for a $50 game.. Just get directions to the house and get it. As there are 20 guys right behind you texting and emailing the seller.. Hey, I've pissed my wife off more than once, for running out the door right before dinner or going out (with her) to grab a game from CL..

My rule.. Don't ask questions, just get directions and tell them you'll be there within an hour.. Can't get there? Don't have a truck? Well, it's a missed opportunity.. Move on to the next, and be prepared next time! It's wild out there.. Ha!

I know the game and I'm not mad at the seller at all. Also, I was at work which is 35 minutes from home.

email him and tell him no problem it will be $300 to fix it.

WHen he freaks out, tell him hey what do you have in it i might just take it for what you got in it

:D

Hehe..

I was gonna say the same thing.. Email him, go try and fix it and say it's unfixable.. :) he should just sell it to for what he paid:)

That's why I stopped checking CL at work.. Pissed me off when I couldn't get out to grab games..

So is this the same guy or someone else that bought it and doesn't know what they're doing? If we're going par for the CL course, my guess is the former + someone prematurely ejaculating a high price at him/her...or they claimed the "real worth" was a bojillion bucks.

Sorry your find was spoiled. :(

Yeah, that's what I assume. Actually, a few months ago there was a Donkey Kong 3 on Fresno CL that wasn't working and was snatched up pretty quick for cheap. Then, lo and behold, there was a post asking the same thing -- can anyone fix my DK3? Perhaps this is the same person????

I was thinking the same thing, Paul. ;) I saw this listed yesterday as well, but my wife had my truck, so I didn't even tease myself by calling. I knew it would be gone quickly. If the guy wanting the repair is in Sanger, then it's probably the same dude that got the DK3...

I should reply to his CL ad and give him a $250 estimate to fix it then say "I wouldn't pay that much to fix that game but I know a guy who'll buy it as is for $50 no questions asked". Ah ha ha.....

Well, I sent him an e-mail about taking it off his hands for $75 because he couldn't fix it himself and got this reply:

"No Thanks, I got it working it was just the fuse.Great Game."

Whatever dude. The original CL ad said there was no monitor and you posted that you needed someone to fix it the very next day. No way he got it working with just a fuse. Hate it when people lie like that.

I'm very tempted to reply and say that I WAS going to give him a list of names of local people to fix his machine but since it was just a fuse........

Probably not worth it.

You could respond and say "I didn't know a fuse could fix a missing monitor, that's good to know. Will save me a lot in the future"

Man, sorry to hear that Paul. It's not worth your effort and time dealing with someone like that. Clearly a liar. Pretend you never saw the ad and move on. Nintendo cabs are common enough and Goonies isn't impossible to find. I've bought it on three different occasions (mainly for the PPU) in the past.

What! Wow, Tucson really needs to get with the program.. I'm batting zero. lol

He meant to say he just changed the giant light bulb that displays the game. Always getting those things confused with fuses. Honest mistake.

I emailed him last night, the monitor needs a cap kit bad and the controls don't work. I gave him a repair estimate and told him I'd buy it from him if he just felt like selling it and not messing with it. He replied asking me how much I'd pay him for it. I still haven't responded. I already have a Goonies. I just wanted to see what the deal was. Paul, I sent you a text.
