What works best for removing cigarette smoke from cabinets? I tried Simple Green and didn't get much of it off. On a whim, I tried cooktop cleaner for smooth top ranges and that worked pretty well but its expensive stuff. Ideas on something cheaper that would do the job?

Some people use wood sealer, some use clear coat spray and others simply paint the inside to conceal odors.

EDIT - ummm you mean wiping off th exterior huh? Magic eraser is the bomb.

Yeah, I meant the nasty yellow crap on the outisde of the cabinet. Its a Galaxian but its more yellow than it is white. I'll try that Magic Eraser. Is there more than one kind of it? Does it harm the paint at all?

Try a mixture of vinegar and water on a sponge.

Otherwise, there are professional / commercial cleaning products specifically for removing nicotine/smoke residue.

That magic eraser shouldn't hurt anything. I've used it before on painted side art and it removed the scuffs and grime while leaving the paint alone. It's also excellent for cleaning up the CPO that's chuck full of hand mung too lol

i use Greased Lightning sometimes. check to make sure, on a small area, that it wont damage anything you are trying to clean first. this stuff is great on tires too!

Yet another vote for Mean Green here!

It melts the brown tar stains right off, you can also usually safely scrub with 0000 steel wool (that's 4 ought).

I usually spray the upper 1/3 of a side, scrub with 0000 steel wool, wipe down with paper towels, then move down to the next 1/3 section. Lather, rinse, repeat for the rest of the cab.

Simple Green is a joke, that stuff doesn't hold a candle to Mean Green.

be careful whatever you use. Art ob galaxians were poorly printed and colors can wipe off with cleaning that most other cabs can withstand.
