I have a Garage-Cade and I have gotten some interesting comments over the past year. I have heard...
"It smells like a bowling ally in here"
"It smells like old wood"
"Smells like coffee"
"Who farted.... for a really long time?"

But my most recent purchase has me a bit over the top. I found an old mouse nest inside the marquee area of a recent game. Full of mouse crap and of course... piss smell.
How the HELL do you get mouse urine smell out of your game??!

I thought about sanding down the wood and repainting, but that really isn't going to cut it. Anyone have a suggestion?

None of these sound bad to me.....I would say some wood cleaner or an all purpose cleaner, that's a hard one cause once you wet it then it smells like nasty piss/wet wood..I have used in the past, mothballs after they dissipate it has seemed to work. I everyonce in a while through some in the corners and behind games just to keep the bugs at bay also...Good luck

I had the very same issue in my first space duel with the upper marquee shelf. Fortunately it's a sliding shelf and I was able to remove it to work on it. I did try to sand it, but it had permeated the wood itself. The odor was so overwhelming.
I ended up replacing the wood with new.

There is a distinct smell all of these cabinets have, but I can't place it. All the op warehouses and past super auctions were coated in it as well. It's like dust and...something else that is universal. I am hoping it isn't what rodents smell like.

I know what smell you are talking about, but this is different. This is mouse piss. LOTS of it.
What about large salt crystals? Someone told me they can absorb the odor.
However, this is in the wood... I am pretty screwed.

really though, this stuff works - http://www.amazon.com/FON-Feline-Odor-Neutralizer-Spray/dp/B000O5FL8C

we used this stuff before we rented a house out that had cats in it for 20 years...after a few days you would never know.

I find bleach reacts weird with ol urine, ammonia is better. Simple green is really good with odors too. I found that acetone will lift an ordor out too in sufficent quanity and if it is applied to the source of the ordor.

+1 for simple green I totally forgot about this I use it for a lot of stuff, and it works.

I can't believe all the comments in this thread. You guys seriously just spray piss soaked wood with a cleaner and then use a sealer to seal the piss in the wood forever?

I'm the only one that rips that shit out with a mask & gloves on and then cuts a new piece of wood? I wouldn't let my kids anywhere near a game that is soaked in rodent piss

Scatter fresh dry coffee grounds in the cab. I wouldn't use anything wet like a spray as it just makes things worse. Coffee has a pleasant odor and in about 2 weeks or so, vacuum it all out along with the smells...try it, it works!

I use to have a simpsons cab that was owned by an indian guy, after a while my whole game room started smelling like curry, I really love Indian food but this smell was unbearable.

Do you have a pic of that mouse nest

Cleaning/sealing isn't the only method i use in all honesty. I've found it much easier to just junk the game and toss the cabinet, it's alot less work.
