I wanted to find out some information on what exactly the deal was with the different Smash TV roms on the main PCB.
I read for the pleasure dome you need L8 roms or higher. What about L1 through L7?
I currently have a L8 board which from what it specifies would have the pleasure doom enabled, I also have a L4 rom board.
Is there any different game play or boards in the game based off of the different roms on each board or not?
Any clerification would be helpful.
Also, I wanted to ask too whether or not a Total Carnage PCB can just be installed on to a Smash TV harness with no wiring changes and work or will there have to be any changes to the wiring harness for everything to function, ie. movement and firing?

Game play and boards are the same on all versions. There were bugs in the earliest revs that prevented the game from continuing, the player could get stuck in a room and the exits wouldn't open. IIRC the keys are missing from earlier revs too, and some revs don't have enough keys pop up during a game to open the PD.

If you already have 8 or later, you're set. No reason to get an earlier version.

You can swap smash tv for total carnage without doing anything to the wiring. Game play is alittle bit different since you have to use Player 1 button for the grenades.

i just got a smash tv and was wondering if total carnage can be swapped too. i thought i remeber hearing there needed to be like a 5v wire or something though?

Yea I have working L4 boards and would like to use the L8 ROMS I have, but when I do the swap, the direction and fire buttons don't function properly.

Really?
I thought you could just change the roms in the L4 board and it would work, I'm assuming then this is not the case?

You need the Total Carnage sound board too.

Crap. So the boards are different from the L1-LL7 versus the L8 or higher boards?
My understanding is that there are four different revs: 4 (first release), 5, 6, and 8 (final release with Pleasure Domes). IIRC, the PCB is the same for all, but - and this is where I'm fuzzy on the subject - to go to L8 roms, another chip swap or upgrade may be necessary. Someone here can probably clarify if the pair of L8 roms are just a simple swap with no additional work.

I've provided many L-8 eprom upgrades and have never heard of any problems.

The only issue I know of is that the CMOS RAM needs to reset
to factory default after you install the new eproms.

Other than that, it should only be a 2 eprom swap.

[ NB. That said, I think most of upgrades I've provided
were for people with version L-5 or higher.
I don't know if L-4 has any other differences ...but I'd be surprised if it did... ]

Now steph.
Your saying that if I have a L4 board and a L8 board, that all you would need to do is swap out the 2 roms from the L4 to the L8 on the main PCB board and I'm done, right?

Ok.
Thanks again for all of the help that everyone has given me concerning the Smash TV roms and the Pleasure doom.....
I'm going to give it a whirl with swapping out the roms and let everyone know if it works....
Now one other question I brought up at the end of the post....
As for the Total Carnage, the understanding that I am having is that the board will "work" on a Smash TV arcade, but you "will" have to rewire some of the connections to have all of the functions work on the game, right?
Or is the game a simple plug the PCB and sound board in and your good to go?

If you have the total carnage pcb and sound board, it's just a swap. No extra wiring needed.
