Smash TV is awesome with the sounds, scenes and dual player capability makes for one hell of a game. My son and I were playing last night and made it to the Pleasure Dome for the first time. The colors in this scene are insane. It's almost blinding with the bright colors that flash at you. Reminds me of the World of Color at D-Land. Another keeper as I have found another one my son an I love to play. The other game he really likes to play is Wizard of Wor, which is great too as it's also a dual player.

It's tough to find games that I played growing up that he would also be into. PS3 & XBox games are typically the games of teenagers today.

That's on my list of games I would love to own someday (Dedicated 25"). It was basically my generation's Robotron and I remember playing it a lot. You pretty much explained it, but the graphics, sounds, concept, co-op gameplay, etc. are just awesome.

Oh, and I think it would be appropriate if you posted pictures of your cab. :)

i love having my dome pleasured also.

I too have that on my to-get list.

I remember LOVING Smash TV in the arcades, but once I got one, I found it to be really boring. Not sure why, but I just had to have it and once I did, it left the basement within 3 months. Great looking game IMO, but for me, it just did not do it for me like I remembered (and yes, I had the Pleasuredome ROM's in mine too :))

Glad you enjoy it! That's the great thing bout this hobby. There's enough different games to have something just about everyone likes.

Aww, that's sad to hear. Though, I completely understand.

I remember LOVING X-Men when I was a kid, but after owning it for a while, I realized it's a terrible game. Can you say repetitive? Basically, the backgrounds of the levels change and the colors of the enemies change. You play it a couple of times through and you're done with it. It's nice to have that 4-player cab to switch out other games, but again, most of them have little replay value and you'd only really have them for the nostalgia/wow factor.

I think Smash T.V. is a way better game in both gameplay and design. There is enough variation and features to keep it fun and nostalgic at the same time. But what do I know? I don't even own the game. :)

My back remembers this all too well.

"OOoh, I want a Smash TV, can you help me move it into my basement." "Ugh, it looks really heavy and awkward." "Nope, this one's a KEEPER." ... two weeks later ... "I think I'm going to sell Smash TV." "Oh really?" "I found a buyer, can you help me move it out of the basement?" "FML" "No seriously, oh and the buyer will pay you to deliver it, so then you get to move it AGAIN." "FML"

Really love mine, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Plus mine is the 19inch monitor version so it doesn't take as much space.

I own a Smash TV, (no pleasure dome ROMS...yet). It's a fun game especially with two players. My two teenage nephews play it with me all the time. As a matter of fact the 1st player fire joystick needs to be replaced as it is getting sloppy from all the plays.

Yes, you need to get rev 8.0 and you can get it from Hobby Roms.

This two Eprom upgrade allows you to reach the elusive Pleasure Dome Level. This level is not accessible with the standard roms. You need Version 8 Eproms to access this secret level.

smash tv is one of my faves! would love to see one pop up in NY.

side note, there's an adult store over here called the pleasure dome :D

Outstanding! Now I know who to call if I ever haul mine out of the basement! :)

Awesome! Thanks for telling me where I can get them....ordered.

working my way through the rooms now myself

all i can say is thank goodness for freeplay
cause this SMASH TV is sucking down the credits like mad !

problem with smash TV and other games of the era are that they are quarter munchers and in an arcade setting you have to pay to play which demands you become a better player and that you will be limited by the amount of quarters/tokens you have. At home with free play there is truly zero challenge unless you impose a limit to the number of credits you use. Simply keep hitting the credit switch and the fire button and you will eventually beat the game. Probably even without trying to do so. I've truly never looked into it but the game would benefit from a limited number of continues option if it does not have one. I own the game and have never beaten it ever. I actually got much further BITD the one day at 7/11 when I dropped $25 in their smash TV. With unlimited continues the motivation is gone.
