This weekend I finally performed my first T-molding job on my Smash TV. Gone is the white that was there when I bought it (which didn't look too bad). It has now been replaced with the standard "blood" red which I think is more appropriate for Smash TV anyway. It is really surprising that the T-molding can really bring out a different look in a cabinet...

I was a bit nervous, but it was a pretty easy job. I just needed a little hot glue on one end of the control panel to get it to stick. Here are before and afters:

I think it came out pretty well....next newbie task...my first control panel overlay replacement (Warlords cocktail).

I actually like the white better for some reason. I had red on mine when I owned one but never thought of trying white. Put the white back on damnit!

I like white better too. When I get one, if it has red, I'll change it to white.

don't sweat it, man. Your red still looks good. And you said in your initial post that you prefer the red. What you prefer on your game is all that matters.

The red looks better in my opinion if that makes you feel any better :) I wish I had a Smash TV so I would have that problem!

I think the red looks better. Leaving the white around the CP area would have been a nice contrast, but the point of restoration isn't to get in touch with your feminine interior decorator side.

...

Yeah that white looked like shit.
Good job! Make sure you have the latest roms for that to unlock the pleasure dome.

I'd love to find one...but I have had no luck (though I haven't put a lot of effort into looking)

Every Smash TV I have ever seen, including mine, has the same washed out looking marquee. I think that is just the way it was produced.

..

No, SMASH TV had deep red marquee's. The light actually faded them out.
By the way, I just picked up a super nice SMASH TV the other day with an unfaded marquee. Ill post pix when I get back to Colorado.

Kind of a dumb, low tech solution, but I used transparent red gift wrap on the back of mine. It doesn't show up at all when the game is off, but when backlit, it looks pretty good:

On a side note +1 for the red T-Molding. White was interesting, but the original red is my preference.
