So I picked this up this boardset from another member here, listed as working before storage now non-working. I figured maybe it was something simple, got it in the mail today couldn't be happier.
Upon Inspection i saw little to nothing wrong, powered it up, and was greeted by this screen.
Cleaned up the edge connector with an eraser (as per mecha's instructions), pulled one of the chips and didn't see any major corrosion (might pull them all next and hit them with 320 just to be safe), flipped it over and i found a small amount of corrosion on the under side near some factory jumpers. The corrosion looks to be on the legs of a couple of the .25w 0 ohm resistors in between u106 and u105 as well as u89 and u90 (should i be worried about this?)(see "Rust" pic). Other than that i checked all the jumpers and tested the sound board with my working 5.0 boardset and it worked fine. I checked the cpu and graphics chip to make sure they were completely seated, and LED1 on the board comes on as it's suppose to just like my working board).
The last pic shows 2 spots i'm also unsure of. the lower arrow looks like 2 legs have a definite solder bridge made.... and the top arrow looks like some of the traces are coming up a lil (there's also another spot on the board that looks like this), almost like the top layer has started to bubble up.
which leads to another question is u105 and u89 only used for the 5.0 pleasure dome revision? as my non working board is missing these two proms.
Other than the easy stuff i'm at a loss kinda with this for now. Until I can get my hands on some 1/4watt 0ohm axial resistors. As I said I'm very happy with the seller and this has no reflection on him whatsoever.
Anyone have any input to this? had this happen to them before? seen a post somewhere about this that i haven't seen?
