Smash TV blocky text/black lines/resets and more

So yea gray screen is caused by 2 switches that aren't suppose to be activated being activated at the same time. (ex. fire up and fire down, or fire left and fire right) I figured this out today working on my 2nd boardset. I couldn't get past the 2nd room, once i decided to play the game without shooting (pressing buttons, stick only) i got to room 4 and played for atleast 20 minutes (testing different things as i went as well as only being able to kill enemies with the ninja stars/nuke/shield).

Once i got that far i was about to shut it off and say GG but i decided to see what happens when i did play with shooting. got to stage 6 before i decided to hit 2 buttons together (fire up and fire down) and it immediately gray screened and rebooted :D

Case Closed :D

oh fuck are you serious? well that makes sense, cause I don't have my dual joystick setup on my supergun, lol. mine's just mapped to buttons and I keep hitting them all trying to figure out what direction I'm shooting in. good shot Broods!

figure out how to magically get the fire right input to work with my NBA Jam harness. I think Smash TV had an extra pin added to each player in empty slots on the JAMMA harness.

EDIT: the reason for the problem I have in the PM is probably because I don't have the Right button hooked up.

some Pins missing i noticed in the jamma harness (G,I,O,and Q) pin 25 is suppose to be fire right but that's with those 4 letters missing...

JAMMA is 56 pins, so what you're seeing is actually normal. lol

I imagine they never used G I O and Q because if they got scratched up they'd look like other letters, perhaps...? so you can't get mixed up, I guess. lol

derp, the one i was comparing it to only had numbers lol i knew i should have checked another manual lol.

upgraded my board to the 8.00 Pleasure Dome roms today and played around with it and it didn't crash at all.

well, it did, when I intentionally pressed up and down at the same time... died on contact. :)

just wanted to confirm that Broods was right about closing switches of opposite joystick directions at the same time causes the game to freeze.

the Reset button warp trick works rather well with it however, and mysteriously, it doesn't crash like this on the 2nd wave. game's begging to get tossed in a cab with 4 joysticks however.

Having the same issue on mine. So essentially, being my fire inputs are buttons, it IS possible to input "up/down left/right" simultaneously...whereas with joysticks controlling the fire inputs, it would be almost impossible to do both "up/down" or "left/right" at the same time? Therefore causing the lock out screen? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right. Lol

what an old thread lol

I was using buttons on my supergun and pressing opposite directions at the same time would cause it to grey screen. and I think reset too.

this was 800 years ago.

Yes...an old thread indeed. However, it was the first one that popped up when I searched for Smash TV lock out screen. Either way...got everything figured out now. All is good. [emoji106]
