Polling the group to see if I'm the only one this happens to...

After I installed a K6100 cap kit, my Tempest was working again. I was happy, but there was a slight jitter in the display, especially during HS display. Here are the steps I've taken since then to try to eliminate the jitter:
  • used another game (Gravitar) to confirm that the monitor is solid
  • installed a new "big blue" cap
  • ran heavy 14 gauge wires between HV cage, ARII and CPU
  • installed a CPU cap kit, and reflowed solder for all trim pots
  • replaced all electrolytic caps on the ARII board
  • replaced the power cord
Aside from the new big blue, none of these seemed to help. Next, I'll replace the +5V regulator and all the trim pots. I just think it's funny that this small problem has made me completely rebuild the game. On the bright side, it should last another 20 years.

Can we see a video?

Andrew
I should have used a tripod, but hopefully you can see the problem (ignore the flicker):

It's a small problem in the scheme of things, but text on this same monitor is rock solid when I hook it up to my Gravitar cab. What's interesting is that the problem only seems to affect text. I don't notice it on other graphics.
