Has anyone ever parted out a working Slugfest (display not working) and what was the total value of the parts?

Thanks,
Garry

Are you considering doing this? If so, you need to realize there is nothing special about that display. A slugfest is just a Williams WPC pinball done up like a pitch n' bat.

I see no reason why someone would part out a desireable title like this when you could replace the display with a super cheap used one and sell it whole for $800.

I doubt you could get $800 parting out. Even if you did, it would be a hell of alot of work to get it.

Yes I am considering parting one out.... I suspect that one is worth as much in parts as they are working.....considering the WPC board compatability. Add the playfield, card dispenser and such I think the value would add up quickly. If I am wrong I will consider shopping and selling complete.

Just thinking....

If you're really considering it, then you ought to go ahead and delete everything you have written in this thread. Your heart just isn't in the right place if you are honestly considering that, and you will get lambasted around here.

It's your machine but I think it would be a shame to part that out. Does it look as bad as this?

I won't even part this game out. Your game deserves to be cleaned up and played IMHO.

Funny...no it is not that bad. I understand your warning about being criticized for parting a working game but to be honest if people would pay a fair price for some games they would not be parted. Perfect case being Space Duel video game...the XY monitors were more valuable than the complete game. Many were killed to allow Tempest and Major Havocs to live on. Anyway, I will take by bruises because some game deals really do come down to business and allowing other games to live on. I have 3 Slugfests in various working condition and am working deals to keep them alive but if I cannot sell them for a decent price....they will be parted.

Seems silly to part it out if it's just a bad display. It's your machine and you can do what you want, but I think in this case the Space duel logic doesn't apply. Parting this out would be pathetic.

Well it is more than the display...

Legs
cabinet fading (artwork)
CPO
Buttons
display
time to clean and shop out.

Add it all up and I am concerned that it is a losing proposition. To sell it means I have to sell it for less than the parts value in order for the next guy to be in the black. These are really not rare so I fail to see the problem.

My preference would to not part it out but I can totally understand about the money thing. The last Slugfest around here went for $500. Although I don't like to see games parted there is nothing against you, like I said it's your game :)
