I have run across a package of 2amp slow blow fuses I am not familiar with. Pictured on the left is the typical slow blow fuse style I have always used...even the coiled spring type as well (not shown). Today I ran across the style on the right - the box says 2 amp 3AG(AGC)(MDL) Time Lag Fuse - Slow Blow and the fuse is marked T2AL 250V LAC.

My question - is this fuse style usable and interchangeable with the fuse shown on the left and o.k. to use in arcade games?

And just out of curiosity.....what does anyone know about this style of fuse?

Thanks!

Alan

Slo-Blo is a trademark of the LittleFuse company for their type of time-lag fuses. The name has become more synonymous the delay fuses that allow temporary overcurrent (think Kleenix, Xerox and other "common usage" trademarks). They provide the same function but have to be manufactured different ways depending on patents.

As long as the rating is the same, they should be interchangeable.

This question is sort of related and figured I'd ask here instead of starting a new thread with a dumb question.

I want to buy some new fuses tomorrow for my Atari Power supply and I want to make sure this is ok.

The fuses called for are 3amp 250v 3AG and a 7amp 250v 3ag (both slow-blow). What does the 3ag refer to? I noticed that radio shack fuses don't have these labels. Is it just fine to buy a 3amp 250v to replace a 3a 250v 3ag in a slow blow? Also 3 of the fuses are rated the same according to the manual, but look different- as some have coils and some have straight wires inside them. Is it ok to mix and match or buy one or the other?

My gut tells me that a 3a 250v slow blow from radio shack will do the trick regardless of wether the wire is straight or coiled or if it's denoted 3ag. Am I right?

"3AG" refers to the size of the fuse. There are some fuses that are a LITTLE smaller and a LITTLE bigger, but you won't be seeing those at RadioShack, that's for sure.

IIRC 3AG = 1.25" x .25"

... don't quote me on that as I JUST woke up about 10 mins ago and it take a good, well... all day, for my brain to start working.
